Default Building boost off factory rev limiter (pomofo's two step)

This is for my LSx/Mustang turbo swap car, I found the pin out on which wires to ground to make my PCM know if I was in P/N or in gear. Now that I am building a turbo setup I am looking for a two step solution. There are a few out there (MSD, Synergy, etc.) but what about the factory PCM rev limiter. Through HPTuners I can set a limiter for Park/Neutral and a rev limiter for in gear.

So my question is if the factory rev-limiter works in the same fashion as a two step rev limiter. From what I understand the MSD/Synergy/etc. just drop out spark to cylinders to keep the revs at under the limit, is this not how the factory PCM works as well?

This is a 0411 PCM out of a 2004 Chevy Express Van btw that will be upgraded to a 3 bar os via hptuners.

after doing some more research it looks like this only cuts fuel, not spark. not sure how bad that'd be on a turbo app, on one had it cuts the fuel for the entire stroke so i dont think it'd cause detonation (no fuel, no boom at all), but if i ran meth it could be a big problem.

Depending on the PCM, you have a option to cut fuel or spark.

I did this way back when I was still a 6 speed. Just set the PN rev limiter at my launch rpm. Worked great for building a few lbs of boost. Doesn't seem to have hurt anything, but do at your own risk

was it quick enough to launch off of? a buddy of mine who is a turbo guru informed me that the megasquirt guys have been using fuel cut for 2step for a long time with no problems (even with meth systems) so i think i'll try it, just want to make sure it'll come off the limiter quick enough to launch.

Yea, as soon as you start releasing the clutch, it knows it's no longer in neutral, engages the normal "in gear" rpm limiter, and off you go. Worked fine for me in my GTO.

Wonder if you could put a switch in to engage the neutral switch in an auto...push button on the steering wheel would work I believe.

did it years ago as a 6spd, works so so. Fuel cut lingenfelter works much better and consistently.
