I'm rather offended. BTW Garrett GT47> 4718 (aka"4788") was designed for an engine that is 928ci

My other customer had no problem making 1113rwhp with a 'GT88' and 408ci

https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-in...9rwtq-e85.html

FYI I had a customer go 9.20 in 3300lbs Fbody 408ci using a TC78, not by choice. I would have no problem recommending the engine combination of Garrett 4718 T5 and 410ci LSX for a street driven build.

Nothing personal. I'm not trying to say that it doesn't work. I'm saying that it doesn't work BEST. Your video proves my point. That turbo is done at 5K RPM.

Never been on the dyno with this setup but I may go to a friend's dyno soon just for ***** and giggles before I sell this turbo.

No but I'm sure that it's bad at that power level.

Dynos are a great tuning tool but that's about it. Once you got the engine running right that's the end of their usefulness. Max power on the dyno shouldn't even be trusted on the street without verification either. Due to the load differences between real life and the dyno, max timing may cause detonation on the street and max AFR may lean out in the real world.

Making the power is also only a small portion of winning races. That 4.8 with the cheap twins that they built in GM Hightech is a great example. If you looked at that dyno, it made great peak power but was a lagasaurus. Proper transmission, gearing, converter, boost control, suspension and tune/engine management all weigh heavily towards getting the final product working right.

The worst thing is seeing a guy dump a boat load of cash into a badass combo and then pulling the plug entirely and starting all over again because he doesn't have the patience to address all the groups necessary to make it work right. The common denominator among most guys with fast cars (excluding the wealthy) is that they have had the same car for a good while and have been thru different revisions of it along the way. I can understand how it happens. There have been times that I have wanted to drive my car off a pier. Wise man once said that if it were easy, everyone would do it.

Your def on the the right page!!! Its not all about making 1000 hp u need to also be able to put it to the ground on the track!

I think that the 4788 would be a great STREET turbo with 400 cubes. Quick spool, great power, but no RPM band.

What I think people fail to realize however, a BIG turbo, say, 94mm+ is a bear to spool on the street. Off boost, transient response, etc suffer in the name of power and RPM.

Fun street car= lit ~3000. Full boost by no more than 3800.

well I am not talking about 50 roll racing. i am talking about leave off a pro tree with out sitting there spooling it and rolling into the beams with out red lighting . and when i took out the 3 " y the costumer insisted on using . i used a 2" Y pipe. and not only that it spools like a mother friger it also pickled up 80 more rwhp on the dyno but the car was all ready running mid 8s with its 5.3 liter.now he can stage first trans break it. put his foot in it. by the time the other guy stages and the tree drops bag the car sixty foots nicely.

now that's what I am talking about very impressive. i rather use a 88 on a 5.3 ls or 331 then on a 408 .... a 403 or 408 with a gt55-94mm would be a better match

eventually when i take the car from street/strip to strip/street, i plan on dropping down in cubes to either a 6.0 or a 5.3. will both of these do well with the .96 ar T6?

anyone?

here how I would match a set up . for the GT47-88 go with a 5.3 to a 6.0 Y pipe size 2" and a Gt55-91 a 5.7 to a 6.4 liter Y pipe size 2 1/4" and for a GT55-94 a 6.2 to 6.9 liter Y pipe size 2 1/4" and the GT55-106 from a 6.9 to 7.5 liter Y pipe size 2 1/4" or 2 1/2 "after that you need twins..... now i am not saying you cant use a gt55-91 on a 408 and even a gt47-88 will work ok. but for the best match this is how i been doing it cant say much more we are grudge street racers over here
