Instead of, or in addition to, LS1 Shootouts, we should arrange Shootouts involving Mustangs, Cobras, LS1, LT1, SBC, etc. These cars have been racing each other since 1966?. Kinda like National Muscle Car stuff. Much more interesting and fun.

When you add up all the stuff different from a Mach 1, the 6K more doesn't seem too outrageous. Besides, if you buy a Mach 1 there is no way you're going to build a forged motor as strong as the 03 cobra motor as well as the fuel system, a tune, AND a power adder for 6 grand.
Just pushing your buttons on this one bud... Seriously though, its worth the 6k for all the upgrades, I just would have never though I'd EVER see a Mustang that cost over 30k without Saleen/Roush stickers all over it.
PS I've owned 3 Mustangs, 1 Camaro, 1 Supra and a ZR-1 along the way, I don't dislike any of em...

Back to the question of LS1 power, for $11,000, you can buy an 800 hp carburated 427ci SBC. Just out of curiousity, what's the highest n/a LS1 or C5R horsepower and what would that motor cost?

I keep hearing about all these 1000+ hp street cars (supras..skylines...) but they just never seem to be seen or running anywhere except the internet.
BTW, my friend just blew up his 800rwhp street supra after only putting 1k miles on it with that power level. I think all this talk about 1200hp stock motors is just pure exaggeration or wishful thinking. It takes a ton of care and feeding to keep a little CI motor making that kind of power.
I'm going to go to the Supra Nationals this weekend and see for myself. No disrespect to the Supras (they are cool cars), but I just don’t buy the 1000hp on stock motor BS. I’m not even sure that you can really run a 1000+ hp car on the street as a daily driver.
BTW, I can’t wait to see the TT ls1 run!

is it weird? 6 cylinder engine can produce more power than an 8 cylinder engine.
if money is not an object, then which engine can produce the most power. Ford 4.6 or GM LS1 or supra 6 cylinder or skyline???
how could a small engine produce more power than big engine??? supra 6 cylinder can produce over 1000 HP just as the LS1 cars did.
is it because it has twin cam and 4 valves per cylinder? higher tech?

i just saw myself a 918 rwhp 970 rwtq stock internal supra (bottom end) on a dynojet dyno 3 days ago at NMRA in FL. they do exist. 99.9% of them are dreamers. that 0.1% is for real. anyways back on topic. the LS1 hasnt made the power because of hte cost to get INTO blower power and also keeping the heads BOLTED onto the block is just now being learned.
