Default SFI balancer for G8 with D1SC Procharger

The last thing I need to be NHRA/IHRA legal is an SFI balancer. I thought this would be simple but it turns out there's no turn-key solution available. I contacted ATI and got this:

"That would take a damper for a F body length damper and your procharger pulley will have to be able to bolt to our damper. You can call procharger and get a pulley to bolt to our damper"

so I then contacted PC and got this:

"I would recommend purchasing an ATI Performance Products balancer and using crank pulley part# DC017A-008. This will require you to machine a spacer to space our crank pulley out the correct distance to match up with the rest of the blower drive system."

I don't have the equipment to do precision measurements or a contact to get a spacer made. Is there a vendor out there that can help me get everything I need for this?

Thanks!

Here is the balancer, crank pinning kit and the crank pulley, but I don't know what is required for the spacer. AS you know, ProCharger doesn't offer an option to set up the G8 to use an aftermarket balancer, and I haven't ever tried installing the 918853 balancer on a G8. Please let me know if you find anything out. Thanks. Bob

Thanks for the reply. Yea, the spacer seems to be the hard part . I'll keep thinking on it. Thanks again.

Bob, do you have this stuff in stock (don't need pinning kit)? Can you take a regular credit card by phone? My PayPal account can't handle the cost on this. Thanks!

I drop ship it from ProCharger, they normally ship it out the same day the order is placed. I do take credit cards over the phone, the easiest way to do it is to place the order on the website, then there will be an option that comes up to call to pay. That way I have all of your info correct. Thanks! Bob

Just an idea, once you get the parts, you can prob use them to figure out what size spacer you are going to need to make it work. If you cant find a micrometer to use, at least see if its big enough to measure with a quality tape and go from there.
You can always just cut out the size you need from a sheet of paper and then take it somewhere and have them cut it for you. I dont see it being that much to do a spacer. Im sure you can google machine shops in your area or even a quality speed shop should have the machines/tools needed.
Option 2, You could always try calling PC too and see if anyone there knows the correct size spacer you would need, maybe just that one guy who wrote the email didnt, but someone else might from other customers needing this...shot in the dark but worth the few minutes to find out if you are not able to get it done yourself.
Good luck with the build!

OK Bob, got another question, need another part.

D1SC blower on a 2008 Pontiac G8. Current crank pulley is
the one that came with the kit (believe part number is DC033A-018). Current
top pulley is 4.13. This makes about 10-11 lbs of boost.

I'm changing crank pulley to part number DC017A-008 with ATI balancer
918853.

What size upper pulley will I need to maintain my current boost level? Procharger says 4.5. This would be your part number DP450I-08D I believe. Do you agree?

Thanks!

That would be the correct pulley. You'll have to let me know if DC017A-008 with the 918853 balancer maintains the belt alignment on your G8.

Thanks. Bob

Not expecting it to. Planning on fabbing a spacer. really think PC should have some various spacers available but they don't.

Order coming now, please ship asap.

Thanks!

Well, a little (HUGE) problem. My installer says the balancer doesn't even remotely fit. Sticks out about an inch too far. This is the one they recommended. God damn it

I'll alert my contact at ProCharger to this thread to see if he knows what is going on. Bob

Well, ATI stepped up and is sending us a new part overnight. With a bit of luck this is all resolved. Thanks for your help Bob!
