thanks, ya for $30 worth of material i'd say it was worth the few hours vs spending $200. they were a lot easier to make then i thought they would be.

Looks good, not sure if you decided on a trans but definetly go with the 80e, it will fit in the 3rd gen no problem. Expect to spend close to $1k on a good lock up converter and you will also have to fab a crossmember for the torque arm as the 80e doesnt have any mounting for it.

I just bit the bullet, when you see it in person you will want to show it off, but the real thrill will be when you put it to the test.

so i talked to comp cams today and they want to set me up with a custom grind cam. the man seemed very knowledgeable(works for a cam company so probably would lol) and he basically said this would be a great street cam and still produce some nice power. i told him what i was doing for the build and that i wanted as much as i could get out of it and this is what he came up with.

222-224 duration
115 lobe separation
.600 lift

ok i know nothing about cams or what that stuff even means but does anyone have any input on this spec before i call them back and order this cam?

I would call a company that turbo charges LS engines and has some data to follow. You have to be careful with lobe selection on the turbo LS engines.

Comp spec'd me a Cam as well, 230 238 575 585 on 114, but my setup is totally different than yours. I also wanted under 600 lift because of the valvsprings I'm running comp 918s

This is incorrect, truck manifolds will fit facing forward and up, even without cutting the flanges. IMO it looks real cheesy.

i'm really leaning towards making my own at this point. i do have a friend who has a pair of c6 manifolds that i'm going to try and if they dont look nice then custom headers here i come.

thanks

We can spec a cam for you just call any time and ask for me. We have loads of 5.3l turbo experience here and can put together a cam/spring package that will work.
