I should send you my feeble firewall cutout so your young welder in training can hook me up.

well i got the motor in(just for mock up before i paint engine bay and rebuild the motor) and to be honest... it sucked lol when pull this thing back out and reinstall I'm dropping the k-member. that was just to tight of a fit. probably didn't help that left the truck oil pan on either. anyway its in and i can start making my headers and laying things out. also added an x brace to that radiator/intercooler support. the support next to the stock box they had in there is night and day for strength and sturdiness. i'll try not to go picture happy but just to give you an idea how things look right now.

i gotta admit I'm really happy with the extra room this has given me by moving the rad forward a little.

ya i have to make a cross member for that trans so might as well get it in there. also that 4l80e is a beast... no way i was going to try and lift that thing from my back on the ground. i did that with the 700r4 a couple times and i thought that was hard enough lol

the fitment was no problem. you have to cut off the corners of the housing about an inch. took about 15 minutes. it tucked up flush with the bottom of the car nicely.

as far as pcm/wiring.... not sure yet. I've heard a few different suggestions. since that is an area i really no nothing about i might just do a standalone unit and have the trans shop set it all up for me so i don't have to worry about it. the computer i have for the motor is out of a 2001 truck and i have no idea if that will run it as of right now.

thanks

ECM is a non issue. Whoever does your wiring harness will add the necessary wires for the extra vss on the 4l80e and ensure your pcm plays nice...now get back to welding...

If you see my truck thread, you can see where that's a losing battle. Anywho, back to your swap. Who is doing your harness?

Lookin' good. Keep up all the hard work. You'll see it pay off in the end.

thanks, ya i'm very happy with the way this project has come out so far. moving slow but i'm ok with that.

i think now i'm going to move on to getting the accessories hooked up before i start the headers. that way i wont be kicking myself later for having to move things around.

That looks clean Brian...very clean! How are you going to route the intercooler piping to the throttle body? I plan to get the same intercooler you have, and don't think my hood can or will close once that pipe runs over the radiator into the TB.

the piping to the throttle will come straight up and angle back directly to the throttle body. i've closed my hood and test fitted the piping and i have lots of room under there for the routing.

can you lower your rad? or maybe lower your intercooler and then do a sharp 90 off it at the top and go around the radiator so the hood can still shut.

ya i thought this has come out pretty clean so far.... actually i think its come out cleaner then i expected lolol getting those pipes ran and the intercooler in place definitly got me stocked i'm super happy with how its looks.

thanks
