PSJ, how much boost would you expect to see on a YSi spinning it to 40k? This would be on a cam only car. I'm thinking about starting my build up from the supercharger and pulley it for around 500hp and then for the second stage build the engine to turn up the boost.

Also, you never said how fast you were spinning the blower.

I would not do a YSi on a cam only setup. What would be the rational?

I run a 8.0 crank pulley and a 2.85 blower pulley, what does that work out to?

PSJ, it would be on the cam only until I can get the forged shortblock. I would rather pay the money now for more power, and then upgrade later for the serious power. But if I go with the forged parts now, there wont be any power to gain before the blower. Also, why get the g-trim if you know you are going to go beyond its capabilities.

BTW if you are shifting at 7200 rpm like you wanted, you are spinning the blower to 69726rpm according to Vortech's site. At 6800, you are seeing 65800rpms on the blower. You are really pushing that blower for the power since stealth told me he was only using ~60k rpm on his setup although he does use some nitrous with it.

So far the car has only seen the dyno and on the dyno we have pulled it to 6800 rpms or so. But I'll look into that.

Can't compare a nitrous + YS setup to a YS only setup. His setup should peak a lot lower and be shifted lower more like a nitrous setup (just my opinion).

Are the YSI and the T-trim brackets the same? Will I be able to use the after cooler if I go with the YSI-trim? Thanks

I think I've read that the aftercooler is rated at 1000 cfm. My IAT can get to 170 degrees sometimes during pulls. So I don't think I would recommend it for a YSI as it is. Either modify the aftercooler system or maybe intercool. If you are mostly concerned about racing and use an icebox it might work O.K..

Who knows. If anything maybe open up the inlet side (its slightly smaller than the T's outlet). I guess you could maybe open the outlet too and make a new pipe from there to the throttle body. I'm not sure what you might gain if you did something like that using the same core. Maybe just fab a completely new unit. I think with the ice it might do a pretty decent job though. What I do is put ice in the stock water reservoir and it really makes a noticeable difference.

the brackets i have can accomodate both...they were designed for a T Trim but the ysi trim has the same shaped except it is a little bigger and a small angle needs to be cut out to clear.

How much boost are you running?
I'm interested to know how my DIY cooler compares to Vortechs Unit.
My Homemade water/to air cooler showed 118 degrees peak temp yesterday on a 6 sec run up to 100mph at 12-13psi.

I have a t-trim running with most of the original g-trim parts. I bought a conversion kit from RMCR to do this. You need all new brackets that are much more beefy. The G-trim brackets won't work at all. The T-trim is a larger unit, but seems to sit slightly lower than the G-trim. I had no problems with the hood at all. It does also mate to the original aftercooler with no problems at all. A well manufactured kit! I can e-mail pictures if anyone wants. My website is offline for awhile. If I ran a T-Trim with a 427, I'd definitely get a 2.5" pully somewhere. I am already running the 2.75 and think I may need a 2.5.

PSJ, I would get like to get to Chris's to let him see the brackets, car can't move at the moment. He could always come over this way though.

www.ls1speed.com has been buying some YSi head units lately from Vortech so they probably have competitive pricing. I hear they should take 7 days to ship. I'd sell my YS (1500 cfm vs 1600 cfm for the YSi) for a good price, it has 20 dyno pulls on it. I'd like to get a YSi.
