yep i just threw the new rings in and regapped, im didnt touch the cyl walls this time, i scuffed them with a harbor freight honing tool when i did the gen4 guts.
i checked cyl 3 that was broken and it had 145psi like before, didnt wanna crank it anymore till i fill her up with oil.
it still has the front mount, just bypassed, ill hook up the old tubing i had on it if i can fit it. otherwise i think ill have a friend weld a J pipe to the compressor on this turbo for easier install lol

This gives me hope yet again that my stock junk will last after all. Luckily I don't plan on going over 16* of timing just upping the boost from 10# to 14# or so. I was making 610whp I want to shoot for 700whp through a th400.

yeah i had a damaged head on my 4.8 and my friend had a broken ported ls1 head i fixed by replacing the valves and throwing the ported 241 on with the stock 862
this motor i burned that 799 head out, my friend had a 243 with bent valves
took the valves out of the 799 i melted and put them in this 243 and put it on when i torched the head off a few weeks ago.
whats funny is the pistons broke in the low compression side. the truck 799 head.
i pulled out a bunch of timing and the car feels great with 4-6 degrees removed...

lol at two different heads, I just remembered your not using a knock sensor at all on your setups right?
I bet that would have helped keep most of your motors together that way you would have known atleast when you went to far with timing..

get the fuel right, and throw in a degree or two at a time till the car quit making power
I usually would see 15-25rwhp per degree of timing, and then 5-10, and thats where i would stop or go back a step, i havent done that with this car in a long time. in fact i dont think i ever did it with the 5.3 i just used everything i learned from my 4.8...
