Are coated turbo headers less prone to cracking?

Ive got my hotparts coated in jethot 2000 and do not have my turbo braced. Do ceramic coatings or any other kinds strengthen the metal at all?

no, i have noticed they are more prone to cracking IMO, and its harder to repair them once they are coated, as you have to strip it to weld it.

The coating will help fatigue life, but it will not make the metal stronger. You need support on the turbo with tubular headers if long life is desired.

thanks for the info..it sucks because im having a hard time finding a spot on the engine to brace it to.

The passenger side header points towards the rear of the car, then the crossover goes under the oil pan by the kmember where theres a flex joint then comes up under neath to the dirver side header..

Welding all the header tubes together with a couple small pieces will strengthen up the header a lot. You could put them underneath and never see them. My friends Honda header was cracking pretty bad that he bought, I welded a couple braces in and it tied the entire structure together. If your header is not in the car, put it in a vise, clamp it by the flange and hit the other end with a rubber hammer. If there is a lot of vibration/resonance then you could have a problem. This header resonated like crazy. After a couple small braces it was solid as a rock. And you cant see them from on top the car.
