Default I'v got a question

Iv got a serious question. I'm having my 383stroker fixed because the machine shop that the shop used boarded it out more than they thought to clean up the bores which caused my engine to use an excess of oil because there was to much space between the rings and the walls of the block. They are fixing it on there pockets. My question is I'm planning on boosting it to the tune of 600-700+ wrhp, so the pistons are going to be custom made to fit. Will the extra material removed making the walls thinner be an issue at that power level?

If its ur ls1 block, they don't really bore the block, they just torque hone it. And thinner walls are more likely to crack if detonation occurs. Have them resleeve it.

All the indie I have I gave. He didn't know how much they has to bore it out. I will find out tomorrow when I call. They had to bore it because my number 7 piston decided to let go so it score up the walls. How much does it cost to re sleeve the block?

costs a lot to sleeve it.. and not just any machine shop can do it.

sounds like a good time to move up to a iron 408 if your gonna get new pistons anyways. pistons will be cheaper as well because your talking custom pistons vs shelf pistons. can reuse the came crank and rods in the 408.

If you reuse cam, crank, and rods, it wont be a 408. It will be a 370. Only way to get to a 408 is stroker crank

Find a lq4/9 block and enjoy the extra cubes. Probably the cheapest and best solution

Or get a 5.3 cast block and use your current engines rotating assembly to build a cast 383..

Ok I talked to the shop and the final bore will be 3.910. Im going to keep the stock block and just keep it around 600-650 at the tire. Ill start piecing together a 408 once I get it running.
