UPDATE:

Not much done lately. Ever since my son was born I've had a lot less time to work on the car BUT this wknd I had a bit of time. As for the turbo kit, the only thing left to put on are the WGs, BOV and down pipes. I'm also cutting off the 3" outlet on the Treadstone intercooler and installing a 3.5" outlet.

Since i want to get the car painted now that it's warm I'm holding off on welding the WGs, BOV and other little odds and ends. I've yanked the motor and trans out so that I can paint the engine bay.

Trans is being replaced with a TH400 and the motor will be a forged/stroked LS3. I'm also getting rid of a lot of crap that I won't be using...A/C, heater, TC, etc, etc.

Here are a few new pics of the engine out along with all the front suspension...

Since the 3.5" intake pipe is pretty big I had to notch my VFN hood and re-fiberglass it. Now it's not done. I still need to shave it and apply filler to smooth it out.

I'll be working on my car the rest of this week so hopefully I'll have more pics for you guys.

The turbos are the ebay GT45 units everyone talks about. If all goes according to plan i should have the car running by the end of this year with the stock LS1/4L60E. Just to see how these turbos respond with the stock cubed LS1.

Once I finish building my LS3 stroker and TH400 I'll swap drivetrain and start turning up the boost. I'm also thinking of making a pair of QSV's to try and get the turbos moving.

If you want some really trick hood pins do a search for "quik-latch". They are push button style hood pins that are pretty trick.

Thanks for the tip. Those are some pretty good looking hood pins. I just might jump on those and send them off to powder-coat along with the suspension pieces.

I think the specs are on this thread... https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-in...04k-turbo.html

You should have no problem fitting those turbos in that location. What I did was position them how I wanted and then fabbed the brackets to hold them. Then I simply ran the pipes.

Very cool build. Maybe I missed it, but when welding the v-bands onto the manifolds, did you use a MIG or TIG?

I used MIG. I first heated the manifolds to 300 degrees (45mins) in the oven and took one out at a time for welding. Once I was done I would put them back in the oven and leave them in there for 45 mins more and then shut the oven off. Letting them cool down naturally.

Nothing yet. I've been working on getting the body done so that I can't put the motor back in and finish the turbo kit. My car is about 80% done. All I have to do is paint the rear bumper, spoiler mirrors and sail panel. I should have that done by this coming wknd. I expect to continue working on the kit in 2-3 wks and should have it done in about a month. I have a 5 month old son who takes up a lot of my time. Little does he know I'm going to have him working on it soon. Lol

I'm using the Treadstone TRTTC9 twin turbo intercooler. It's rates at 1300HP. The only thing I'm going to it is changing the outlet size from the 3" OD to a 3.5" OD. 3" OD just sounds too small.

Here's a link to it....
