2013 Shelby GT500 Dyno #'s

well i was thinking more along the lines of better shifting points, track apps, launch control, bigger air cooler, piston squirters, large sump, more oil capacity, new cams, compression changes, bigger heads, thicker headgaskets, and beefier bolts, stronger rods and pistons, slugged crank shaft, new windage tray, and the list keeps on going. it is a huge step past the previous model. the difference now is before you could upgrade to the 700hp package and lose warranty and you payed the same amount plus the upgrade...now you get that same package pretty much standard, BUT BETTER. for around the same price. I was expecting this car to cost more, but it did not.

Personally I think this is awesome that you can get that much performance from the show room floor. I do think buying a 5.0 or Boss and then sticking a blower on it is a better value. Most 4th gen camaros/firebirds weight 3,400-3,500 lbs from the factory. The gt 500 is around 3,850 lbs and I think the ZL1 is 4,120 lbs. I would think the gearing could be changed (and tires) to get better trap speeds.
I know I've done a lot of work on my car and it doesn't seem so impressive now that some of these factory cars are getting so close to it in performance. On top of that, these cars have no drivabilty issues. I just think it's funny that so many people are dumping on these cars.
It's almost like you have to use some power adder to keep up.

When is it going to end? About 10 years ago the 03 cobra had 390 crank hp, now they go and double that almost. So in another 10 short years are we going to have a factory 1200 hp car? This is just another sign that the world is going to end soon.

i know my car pushing 800+ soon is starting to lose its luster. then again its not as much of a pig as those, but I think I will hit 4 digits and call it quits. lol. i do not see them going past 600-700 from the factory. despite how times change, gravity and traction most likely will not. when the cars start getting so powerful they lose driveability i think the MFG will plateau until new technologies emerge.

They'll just keep adding that technology like launch control and track apps etc. But more and more advanced. But by that time you'll probably have to pay a premium to drive a car due to mass transit and cars that drive themselves! LOL

I raced a Gt500 last week at the local drag strip. Both our sixty foots were crap (2.xx) but I trapped at 126.03 while he trapped at 121.01. My first pass that night yielded a 128.96 mph trap speed. This is at Lebanon Valley in upstate NY with a thunderstorm minutes away. The track closed due to heavy thunderstorms 5 minutes later so we had high elevation AND high humidity. I was running 15psi that night.

Livernois made 613 with the first privately owned car on the dyno the best trap to date is 127. It trapped 124.5 with Evan Smith driving it on its 20th consecutive hot lap if thats not impressive I don't know what is. Keep in mind you are getting 3 year 36k bumper to bumper and 5 year 50k on the powertrain! I cant wait to my clients car comes in.
Can I work at your dealership because I sold one of our 13 cobras for measly sticker!

some of ya'll are kidding me right? That new GT500 is badass! Period! As a person that isn't brand loyal its great seeing the hp wars and two of the American car companies producing some killer rides. I would take a new 5.0 automatic over any other mass produced car today! Hopefully GM and Chrysler comes back with another counter attack with a rival car. Look around everybody this is the second power war this country has seen from the big three.... enjoy it.

I am impressed that someone hot lapped 20x without blowing up! Like the other fi fords! I would be surprised if a ford dynoed rated power. That must be a first I wonder how bad the fuel economy was overrated?

I would think a good bit. I am pretty sure the stock tune is not as conservative as we'd imagine (cant wait to see some logs) but I believe the compression ratio was raised as well in effort to raise the power going from 8:5:1 to 9:2:1. Dont quote me on that, but I know that the compression ratio is def on down enough to justify 93. The main focus according to Jammal Hameedi was engine temps.
That is the second person in 24 hours who told me to put a blower on the ZL1. Thats just the problem. It does have one, and I believe its another version of that same blower. No doubt the zl1 will be a better track car, but correct me if I am wrong.....90% of us are straighline performance folk.
