Default 2013 Shelby GT500 Dyno #'s

The car made 609 at the wheels, weighs around 3800-3900lbs. Is rated 662/631 at the crank. Forged 5.8liter. Same price as the Zl1, or close (around 50k) GT500 I do believe is @ $54,000. TVS 2300 blower.

Zl1 Made 512 at the wheels. Weight is around the same, but its a 6.2 instead.

And it can still only muster a 123mph trap with 609whp, about the same trap speed with a 460-480whp f-body....

That's incredible. The ET's it's putting down is just as mind blowing. Mid to high 11's on stock tires with 121-125 mph traps. Wow.

yeah F- bodys have there own horsepower as compared to mustangs....had a bud with an 03 Termi, 460rwhp bolt on car, vs my car @ 390-400ish. I won.

However, I cannot wait to see this thing with some radials and a good driver. So far all I have seen are 11's. Yawn.

I think its more than impressive. stock production mustang with over 600rwhp. Times are impressive too, 11s on stock tires. Most 10 second fbodies are in drag radials.

oh its undoubtedly a nice ride making some great power. we still don't have enough info to justify just how bad it is. I mean for a warrantied vehicle, that is more than likely going to hit low 11's high 10's on radials, thats not bad for 4 seats, and not being made out of entire carbon fiber with a 6 figure price tag. I can think of some pretty shitty vehicles that are being sold for more, but delivering less. The ensuing battles will be something to witness. I like rivalries and the competitive spirit we all share.

the whole engine size battle is minute at this point, i mean Ford has (wisely) upgraded to direct injection which automatically makes it much much easier to get better performance out of their motors (among other things). Id love to see what the ZL1 would jump to with direct injection.

On another note, i love the new mustangs/5.0, its a great car. Im a GM guy all the way, but Ford really stepped their game up and is putting out some great stuff. im glad i have a turbo..

^ yeah you gotta give credit where credit is due I suppose. When you think about it SVT changed the car in 2010, then 2011, 2012, and now the 2013. They make revisions based off consumer feedback and implement it in their designs.

Now all we need is a 2015 Firehawk with a 6.0 with optional supercharger package to come out. Id reserve that thing next month. Because, at this point in my life, the last thing they made that I wanted, I have. My ws6 is still my pride n joy. Your glad you got the turbo, I am glad I got a whole new setup coming for these new whipper snappers.

A ZL1 (stock) dyno'd the other day @ 498rwhp on a Dynojet here in Utah. Also a guy at work has a 2011 Shelby GT500 and he made 540rwhp and 530tq. I believe the car is stock except for suspension and drivetrain mods. Him and I are at the same #'s power/tq wise, so the 2013 is pretty impressive. Although that 2013 GT500 will never see those numbers @ 4600 ft above sea level without changing out the pulley. I will say I was kinda bummed to see such low numbers from the ZL1 though.

I'd take one in a heartbeat. Ford has definitely produced a bad *** car.

I do like the ZL1, but I would pony up the extra cash for the GT500 if given the opportunity.

we'll see how it goes. i think svt is putting out a good car there, but i also think the zl1 is going to be a better road track car. i look forward to the battle to come between them.

Interesting article.
http://autos.yahoo.com/blogs/motoram...044439333.html

Especially, this part.
The 242 additional horsepower in the GT500 over the upgraded Mustang GT barely made its presence known -- in part because the GT500 only makes its maximum when the car "over revs" from its normal redline of 6,250 rpm to 7,000 rpm in eight-second bursts, and the tall gear ratios prevent the chiropractic snap you'd expect when nailing the gas pedal.
Credit Ford's launch control system, perhaps the best on any production car today, that lets drivers pick an engine start limit by 100 revs at a time to match the conditions on the track. It was far smarter than I was, and no matter how hard I tried with the traction control turned off, I couldn't beat the system.

I've had a friend of mine that has had a couple cobras and mustangs with SC's, and I have to say they have been making some great vehicles. Ford in general.

So...609 to the wheels, on a bone stock GT500?

I will need to see this for myself, on our dyno

Both the ZL1 and Shelby are sick! The horsepower wars is alive and well. I'd consider the ZL1 a rarity over Shelby simply because Ford has never really dropped it's line like Chevy. But if it's my money stock for stock I'd take the Shelby with the Recaro optioned seats. Chevy should make Recaros a ZL1 option like they did with Cadillacs CTS-V.

Given the two...i would take the GT500 over the ZL1 in a heart beat. That thing will be a monster with a pulley and bolt ons and a set of mickeys.
