Tuned my car yesterday! Turbo got damage
Well I had my car on the dyno yesterday and was doing a few passes the turbo I'm running is a turbonetics t76 with .96ar, I'm running front mount setup with a lq4 all the supporting mods to make it work... It was making a health 590rwhp, I believe 10#'s or so when suddenly in one the runs the shaft in the turbo snapped! The turbo didn't explode and lucky nothing shattered and went inside my engine... Why did this happened!??

It spins free... the end of the shaft broke were the nut goes on the compressor side is were it broke, not on the middle of it... As far as oil it seems that it does have enough oil I have a a melling oil pump I see nothing but 60psi and I have a -4an feed to oh and just running the screen fitting that comes with the turbo..

I had oil in my turbo as well but not enough to keep it lubricated and cooled. When it got too hot the shaft bound up and snapped in 2. I still have the turbo to this day and whats left of it still spins freely... it's an expensive paperweight and good conversation piece LOL.

As long as there is no damage to your actual housings it should be able to be rebuilt. Mine is technically rebuildable but for me a rebuild wasn't worth it when I quoted it out so I just ended up buying another new turbo. I was in the same situation as you in that I bought the original turbo from a friend who never installed it... by the time I used it there was no warranty.

I would check your feed line thoroughly for any blockages and pull out any restrictor if you have one on the turbo. Also make sure the oil drain is clear so oil can flow freely through the turbo.
As far as a rebuild I see you are in Cali so there should be MANY options for you out there. I have no-place locally for me so the only place I have ever used for rebuilds has been this place, they have always treated me right - http://gpopshop.com/
