Default Am I overshooting with potential twin TC76?

Thanks to some recent (and great) posts about 'observations', I now have a new PT76GTS/7675 on the way(Thanks INTMD8!). My current TC76 has been a great unit but in reading the aforementioned posts, it appears I've been leaving some performance on the table. So I consulted Jim/INTMD8 about my options, having given him my motor/combo/car/drivingstyle/goals. He recommended either twin 6067e's or a single 7675 and in that order. Because my current kit is a single and was mocked up (thanks REALQUICK) with a 7675, I went that route for now.

I know Tiago has run the twin TC76, and to great effect if you've seen the races on Youtube, but his engine is (a) an LSx and (b) I don't know what his displacement is on that 1,000hp+ monster If the twin TC76 would be too much for my 355 LT1, built for boost as it is, I can always go back to selling the TC76 and getting the two 6067e's. I was mainly considering the cost/convenience of adding another Tc76 ($8xx now?) versus two brand new 6067e's(uh..I think I've seen them at $1,200ish for both).

Thanks for your opinions in advance.
Dave

How fast you trying to go, that single 7675 should push your car to 145-150mph.

Hey Tiago How's your car doing?

As far as HP goals, I was going to let that fall where it may. In the case of this thread, I was just going for cost/convenience by just buying another TC76, but hoping that transient throttle response would be great from as close to idle to demon speed as possible. The TC76 has been been great and it has never disappointed me when having contests from a roll. It is at the drag strip I keep having dismal 60 foots and ET. The trap speeds are very encouraging as the car really makes up in the 2nd half for what was lazy in the first half. I had a cracked manifold (about 3" long and 1/4" in height) and still trapped at 129mph but a lazy sounding 11.9 ET.

It's getting late in the season for the TH350 and 3,800 stall Vigilante install so that will probably be something for early next spring. I think that, in conjunction with the 2-step, will help me immensely regarding sixty foots and ET.

I will install the 7675 and a new tubular Manifolds in the next week or two. I'll try that out (fingers crossed for some passes this year before the track closes) and then, if it's still not responsive enough, consider twins by next Summer.

Put good fuel in it and should be able to run that 7675 at 24-26lbs before it stops making more power IMO.

if one 76 is lazy two will be lazy-er

it will depend on your ultimate power goals, obviously the 76 is capable of a lot, but its not going to be real responsive with a 355 motor, I would go as big as you can on the cubes. 408 LT1?

Yikes! I've heard of LT1's being punched out to 396 but not too much beyond that. My current block is a .030 and is in good shape so I guess the next bore job with be .060 over. I think once this motor is too tired, I'll prolly go jump feet first into an LSx (motor only) and start the fun all over again

If you are serious about throwing a ton of boost on it I'd leave as much bore material in there as you can get.

76 on a 355 should be plenty responsive, heck I'm making over 800rwhp by 3800rpm with my 76 on my jy 5.3 to give you an idea. Tune and a good controller are important things most people don't take into account.
