You only running a single walbro? Whats your base pressure? I'm doing a similar build and would love to get away with a single pump.

Keep in mind, there is a theory that the boost in the intake tract actually helps the rod bolts by cushioning the stretch at the end of the exhaust stroke. Some times turbo motors can RPM a bit more than the same motor N/A. Might not be worth a lot, but I've revved the heck out of mine before a lot higher than it was supposed to handle (not an LS motor) when it was seeing decent boost.

The detonation threshold is higher at higher RPMs too... There are some advantages that come with RPMs.

I would increase timing before increasing boost if thats what you meant by "turn it up".

also the rpms will come quicker when you increase timing/boost so you may still have to shift to 5th anyhow.

please keep us updated. awesome job

The boost will be what goes up first. Probably be shooting for similar in first, 16 psi in second and 18-20 in third and fourth. Timing will stay conservative until we get the boost on point. This turbo is awesome, I have ran ball bearing Garrett turbos my whole life on imports and really though I would end up doin the same thing with this car but wrong I was. Next setup may very well be twin gt45s.

My pump is a single Walbro 485-400lph, e85 compatible. It comes out of the tank through the stock 5/16 hard line to a -10 all the way to the rail. Base pressure is currently 55psi but that will be upped to 65-70 before this weekend.

The difference between this car on 10/13psi and 16 psi is huge. The car wouldn't hook on my slicks in 3rd gear on 16psi(on the street). I'm going to say that there is at least 100whp between the two in boost alone. And at 16psi we are currently only on 10* timing. Lol.

7500 rpm should get us mid 150mphs which should net bad close to a 8sec pass. We shall see.

I know what u mean about it picking up above 10 psi. The car was originally tune on 16psi and it feels like 200whp more. I'm sure it isnt but there is power up there. I'm wondering where it runs out of steam(rpm). Never seems to nose over.

There's a 100 hp left in timing. Should be fitting my 8285 5.3 in my s14 by the end of the month.

No 2step yet. It's working pretty fair without. We will see what it does tonight on some power.
