Some turbo questions? TC76 low boost, turbo lag?

Some turbo questions? TC76 low boost, turbo lag?
So one of my friends who has always had turbo cars was telling me that I'm going to have bad boost lag if I run a turbonetic tc76 turbo on 6lbs of boost and says it won't even hardly be faster? My goals are not real high to start out with the turbo. I plan on pulling out the 224r cam for funds for the turbo also. There are a couple of reason's I want to run only 5-6lbs of boost and probably make around 450-480 rwhp. Mainly bcause I want the tranny to last a little while on boost and I only have 37lb injectors at the moment. So the motor is going to be stock internal, stock heads & head gaskets. Now hopefully knowing all the above some of you can answer my questions...
Questions
1. Will I have bad boost lag with a TC76 turbo on 5-6lbs of boost?
2. How much power can I expect to make on stock motor with 5-6lbs of boost?
3. Will I have the power to trap mid 11's@120mph+ on 5-6lbs?

Your friend has no idea what he or she is talking about. a tc 76 on a 346 spools very fast, almost no lag. Doesn't matter if a controller is set to 6psi or 20psi it would get to 6 in the same amount of time. You will notice a huge power increase even at 6psi. Probably around 100whp more. I don't think you will have a problem going 11s.

My LQ4/76mm on 6.5 psi made 500rwhp through a 6 speed. I'm sure it would be less with an auto, but to say it's not noticeable is absurd. Honestly, that's the setting I drive around on most of the time. With street tires, once I start getting into the 10+ psi range, I have to really focus on what I'm doing because it will blow the tires off pretty easy.

I do agree that my turbo will make more power, however the differences would be more pronounced at higher power levels. Also, my turbine is 75mm on the exducer, which is where the tc unit is measured. The point of my post was simply that 6 psi is noticeable.

I don't think you'll have a problem hitting your goal. Superman09 went 12.0 @ 118 with a STOCK car and 5 PSI. Stock converter, stock motor, stock rear, stock everything. His car only made 420RWHP at the time.

Don't listen to him. my tc78 hits 12lbs at 3500rpm. Instant spool with a lil brake boosting too.
lag isn't really a product of how much boost you are running, its more about the size of the turbo and the size of your motor. the tc76 is a smaller turbo and our cars move a lot of air through that small turbine. its gonna spool

You will definitely feel a TC76 on low boost! A good idea would be to ask Dave or check out his thread on here, 1999Black_Z28. He runs the Huron Speed turbo kit with a TC78 on 5-6 psi and loves it! It will also spool almost instantly for you!

I've asked him alot of questions about his setup, read his build thread, AND watched his vids on 6 psi and that thing looks like alot of fun. He actually made my decision to buy the huron speed kit after watching his vids and getting some info from him. I can't wait to see what he runs when he gets it to the track!

I did some rough calculations based on the mph I ran NA (with the 317 heads and LS6 cam it ran 107mph) so I expect to run around 118 mph at 6psi. 118 isn't much faster than my old heads cam setup but the torque curve is so fat that the car feels a ton faster on the street.
It doesn't really matter too much to me anyways because I found a really good deal on an e-bosst street so next spring my car will be getting more boost!

A TR224 is not that much more aggressive than an LS6, and both will need decent valve springs with boost.
no need to check valve spring every 10k at that boost & cam lift if you use a good set of springs.
