increase power but not boost?

Default increase power but not boost?

i currently have a 01 ls1 with ls6 intake manifold. mpt76 turbo at 8.5 psi and make 482rwhp and 502 torque.

would changing to a better flowing head and mild cam increase hp and tqe safely or would i be better off just raising the boost a few lbs and tuning for it?

is there a better flowing oem head that you would suggest? i read alot about changing heads to lower compression in order to raise the boost lvls. also what cam would you suggest? i dont want it to sound like a heavily cammed car at idle. the more stock sounding, the better

what is your goal? If its around 550 i would definitely try raising the boost first. Maybe to 11lbs or so. I wouldnt spend the money on heads just yet. another idea is just getting a better turbo like a gts76mm.

dude raise the boost and dont even think about it. just tune it and be done.

Much easier to raise the boost and with a good tune will still be just as safe.

Only oem cylinder head I would go with over the stock ls1 heads would be 799/243. They will raise your compression a fuzz but the combustion chambers and ports are much nicer and make more power.

Any ls motor boost or not normally responds well to a good cam. I have a procharged 02 z28 on 8.5 lbs of boost and I put down 562 whp and 519 tq on an mustang dyno. My cam is 232/238 .595/.605 lsa 115. that may be a little to aggressive of a cam what you want but its food for thought. dont forget to upgrade the valve train if you do a cam.

just turning up the boost and getting it tuned for it would be the most cost effective. way i see it it that you're going to have to get it retuned adding a cam and heads anyway.

You could always splurge and put a nice set of ported 799/243 heads on it with a nice cam and raise the boost a fuzz. You'd really be looking at a nice power gain then!

It's not about boost, it's about airow! More airflow is more power

I'd do up a set of 317's to lower compression some and give you that extra flow found in the 799/243 heads with larger chambers to drop compression a bit.
