Dorman OE Solutions - Fuel Level Sensor
Part # 911-024

You'll be using the same one that i used. i had to reuse the stock float and i had to solder off the leads from my truck to the new PCB. lol so i just used the potentiometer out of the whole kit damnit!

Another unbelievable build denmah!

I was away for a week and didn't have time to keep up, so I just caught up and I have a couple of questions I'm curious about:

1) When you say your friend built the trans, I think what you're saying is that he put in the transgo kit and left the rest of the high mile trans stock. Is that correct, and if so what are the miles that are on this sucker? Over 200k, wasn't it?

2) Regarding your Turbowerx pump, I was just curious why you choose the lower end one over the Exapump. I figured the answer is either because the Exapump is a gear type pump, and it's noisy, or just that the base pump is good enough for the job and it's $150 less.

2b) Am I correct that the base pump is a diaphragm style pump, and is it quieter than the Exapump?

Thanks man, I hope the tuning is going well for you!

Mine has been doing this for 5 or 6 years... When it stops jumping around you're out of gas.LOL

lol i couldnt do that this trip! bought the truck, fixed that problem and took off to CA to bring all my gear back to Tx. didnt know what the MPG was on that truck and didnt feel like being stranded with no diesel for miles. can you believe that, some stations dont carry diesel?!

This is a great build. Just read through the entire thread. Ive been over on performance trucks too long. Its nice to see something thats not a kbracing or trick kit. Keep up the good work.

well some growing pains as to be expected, it did make some drives and make some boost, but not without issues.

its breaking up on 5psi no matter what i do with plugs, so i think maybe one of the 200+k coil packs might be bunk, going to swap them all out soon and try again fresh, also it seems like one of the turbos is leaking oil but not the other, bleh.

i also seem to have a coolant blockage, the heater core isnt working now, it did when i bought the truck, there was lots of rust in the system. it has been sticking around my fan temps of 180f, cept i was idling it in my driveway and it was getting hot, tried to crack the rad cap a tiny but to let it go into the overflow tube and possibly burp the blockage but the damn cap shot off, and i had a nice ole' faithful shower into the hood and burned my arm, what a ****** day that was sunday.

also the rear brakes were making a crazy noise sunday out of nowhere, so i guess i have to tear into those now.

all and all kinda took the wind out of my sails a bit, so i let it sit the rest of the day sunday and ill maybe pull the plugs and coils and check that stuff out again tonight.

the turbos feel like a supercharger, i can make boost at like 2000rpm i feel like they might be too small, but cant wind it out enough to find out if they fall off, feel like they would be perfect for 15lbs and instant power, we will see how it goes, i hope they are not too small, since my friend made 650rwhp with a 5.3 and smaller 57s... they boost and surge off idle lol.

oh well, expected difficulties, still sucks.

well see how it goes, if the twins are too small or a pain in the *** i am thinking ill go strait to a 80 ish mm and shove it up front in the spare battery tray area

They should be fine . My 62's work good on a 5.7 ls6. I bet they'll work.

You sure your not leaking boost? That elbow on the cp before the intake looks sketch. Perhaps remove the elbow at the TB and plug it then pressurize the system with a port and 30psi of air or so to test. Probably a wise plan to do that to every boosted build before attempting tuning to rule that out

yep its all sealed up, i can brake stand 3 psi very easily, it makes boost nearly off idle, so i doubt that its leaking

the oil blowing out of the exhaust
rear brake noise
overheating
and breaking up over 4psi

is concerning me more than a possible boost leak right now.

I'm assuming you have restrictors on your oil feeds, but do you? Also, with that scavenge pump pulling on those oil drains, I'm really shocked you are having oil in the exhaust.......

If your turbos are a bit small for the 6.0L with the biggish cam, I think these are the next step up the ladder for cheapass twins:

I guess even if you could best offer these at $300 per turbo, an 80mm ball bearing turbo would be similar or less money but I'm not sure you'd have enough turbine flow to make it work correctly. You might actually need to get into a BW with a monster turbine wheel to go with a single.

yeah i have done rear mount stuff before without issue, so ill check everything out

the turbos did come with restricted feeds. and i am running the feed line up over the brake master cyl to make sure it does not gravity drain a trick we learned from the other turbo truck build we did, also i was going to go right to CX76's if i am going to swap these out

I hope the turbos don't fall off at the top end. If they do that means I'll have to get new turbos
I'm glad to hear they light up quick though that's bad ***

ok, lowered my oil drain lines and that seems to have fixed that, just gotta work on the drains. driveshaft is making noise, the center coupler thing is tight, gotta take that apart next. other than that i had it out a few times tonight and everything is doing pretty good, i think i am having fuel slosh issue now for sure, i unplugged my meth pump, swapped plugs, coils and wires, and i can see clearly on datalogs now the duty cycle is running away and the air fuel goes off the chart lean and it breaks up because it has no fuel, basically fuel cut. there is less than 10 gallons i assume in this 35 gallon hulk tank and i cut the bottom of the basket off to get these fat 400's in there... im just gunna fill the tank and take her out again tomorrow after we fix the driveshaft and see what happens. sucks but this tank is a huge rectangle. swapping to a sumped tank in the bed that rolls back with the hit would be the only fix for it now, or at least a half a tank, and i dont have that.

otherwise its going good, it sounds awesome still, getting it sorted out, i still have no heat, i think the heater core is blocked. so much rust came out of the rubber hoses when i tore into the motor, bleh.

i guess we will try and get that cleared out with compressed air.

one thing at a time, looking good though!

ill get video for you guys tomorrow no matter what. good or bad when we take it out driving it, amazing how fast these turbos spool, engine feels incredible at part throttle.

we will see, they seem badass, i cant believe how fast they light.
check my update i think i have fuel slosh, well its obvious that its fuel slosh, 35gallon tank and like 8gallons or less in it. sheesh.
