yeah i had the 4 port one my friend gave it to me with the ls1 intake so i used that, easier than fabbing or getting something else.
Great post Matt, it proves that it's all in the tune and the way the engine is built. This is why I love your threads, data is king.

i had blocked all my steamports as well because my griffin didnt have provisions... never bought into the myth that the rears being blocked would somehow make the #7 piston blowup so i didnt worry when i blocked the front as well.

i killed my stock 5.3 by hitting a 2nd gear trying for 4th... ooops. turned over 8000+ rpm. stock pushrods didnt bend, no valves hit the pistons. all pistons looked absolutely perfect after 6k miles of pure beating the **** out of it. rod bearings just clearanced themselves.. still made it 70 miles home with 15psi oil pressure... less under a load hahaha.

Once he realized he needed less timing and a cooler plug with a non projected tip I don't think Matt kicked the engine anymore after that epiphany. All in the tune, how it's built and the fuel you're using for the amount of boost or nitrous/compression you're running.

I'd have to reference a part number when I'm at the shop tomorrow, but I'd use a projected tip 8 heat range plug...7 at the hottest.

Bad ***! I'm still planning my build so this info is awesome.

Has anyone looked at using the ZR1 3 bar map?
