Default Build Thread: Project K.K (aka:Kim Kardashian) 1937 Dodge Coupe

Well it's been a while since I was on here, but it looks like I'm going to start a new LS build. So, I came over here to get some advice and opinions. I just picked up my rolling chassis from EasTexas Racecars and now its time to start mocking everything up so that I can get it to Paint and Body. My dilemma is that originally I was going to do a 540 with twin BW S480s, but after getting it back, it looks like there will just not be enough room under the hood to fit everything. I could do a pump gas 582 BBC with NOS but I'm afraid it wont be able to run the times I want to run (able to run with my friends 540 F2 tube chassis 68 Camaro that he is building).

I mocked up the LS block and it looks like it would work. I was worried about the exhaust clearing the double frame rails, but it looks like its going to be OK.

What's everyone’s opinion on what they would build? It has to be able to survive some street miles and the budget is not unlimited......

Pic from the front would help but up and forward headers or manifolds may work.

Those front end frames and radiator area are pretty tight.

Man talk about a fat butt.......

I missed out on buying two '36 plymouths in high school cause I could not scrape together $1500 for the pair. They were totally rust and dent free. Kick myself all the time for that.

Here you can see how much room I gain by going to LS...The front motor plate is for the BBC...

I was thinking of trying to squeeze a pair of twins between the valve covers and radiator....

Or trying to put a single behind the grill......

I would go with a big single behind the grille or hang a pair out each side by the fender b/c I don't know if they will fit anywhere else?

what numbers are you trying to run with the car n what suspension setup will the car have? imo doing a 454 lsx with twin tc76 or f2-3 would be a great choice (2000hp) but idk how fast your looking to go or the budget lol

It only takes a second to see why you named it what you did.

what suspension setup will the car have?
The car has a four link and strange struts up front. It's certified to 7.50. I'm thinking it's going to end up weighing ~3000lbs and I would like to be able to tickle the 7's eventually...

some sort of LSX/RHS with A F2 or twin 72-76 setup wouldnt break a sweat achieving those goals in a car that light. call eric at hke or talk to vengeance/proline on doing a setup for you

The combo I'm leaning toward is a
410 to 427 CI
LSX Block
Callies Dragon Slayer Crank
Callies Ultra HD or Oliver Rods
Diamond or Wiseco Piston 9-9.5:1 Compression
Holley Hi Ram intake
????? 6 bolt Heads
????? Power Adder
I don't think I could fit a Procharger unless I used a front gear drive...and still it would be really tight.

all good choices. all lsx/rhs blocks are 6 bolt. and is the best choice idk what a dragon slayer crank is rated to but you might have to go to a billet crank or something good to 2000 hp. but that i dont know. a crank driven f2 would be ******* awesome.

You need to look at the Pinto that ran drag week, he had a stock ls2 block, crank, 235cc heads, twin turbos, ran 7.80's@180mph at 3200lbs. He drove it 1000+miles on drag week and ran 7's all week!

You need to look at the Pinto that ran drag week
I saw Tim's Pinto at Drag Week last year and it's amazing how effortless it looks running a low 8 or high 7 .....I just worry about a stock block and crank surviving run after run....

I copied this from HOTRODS website....

The bottom end of the 408ci engine is full of forged parts from Callies and Wiseco. Trick Flow provided the untouched 225 CNC cylinder heads and Edelbrock the intake. A FAST 90mm throttle-body and Precision 120-lb/hr injectors round out the induction system. Remarkably, Tim is still running stock GM lifters. A Cam Motion hydraulic roller stick actuates the valves, and a BigStuff3 computer controls everything wired to the engine. The cam has a 115-degree lobe-separation angle with just 0.639 intake and 0.626 exhaust lift (with 1.75:1 rockers) and 243/238 degrees of duration measured at 0.050-inch valve lift. The turbos are 67mm Precision units with 46mm wastegates. A pair of Precision air-to-water intercoolers drop inlet air temps to a safe level when the turbos are spooled. With 17 psi of boost, the LS puts out 1,240 hp and 1,000 lb-ft of torque. Tim has upped the boost higher but has no clue how much power the mill makes after that. As turbo engines go, this thing is not exotic. You could literally bolt it together from a Summit Racing catalog.

Dude this is going to be ****...I love the way the twin huffers look...you gotta see if you can somehow integrate an intercooler for the length of the grille and maybe run a rear radiator...or perhaps go A2W...or straight alky....I'm having fun just thinkin about what you can do with this!!!

Good luck with the build!!!

Dave
