Got another big ticket item marked off last weekend! BTE shorty glide 1.80 first gear with a Pro-mod gear vendor outback. I refuse to cruise the car down the highway at 75mph at 3000+ RPM.

Haven't posted in awhile but finally got the motor back from the engine builder with several new updates including new exhaust valves, CHE trunion kit, ARP rocker studs, and some other stuff.
Got the motor set back in the car right away and worked on getting the transmission cross-member made. Obviously can't go out buy a cross member for glide/gv combo so I had a friend cut/fab up the 80e cross-member and use what we got. I only know of one other f-body with glide/gv and found him on yellowbullet while researching.
It came out pretty damn good!
Next is to get the turbo stuff hung back on and then off to wire in a complete Holley Dominator system with a CAN EGT, digital dash, and a ton of sensors for logging.

You may wanna keep a close eye on those bearings, a local guy was running a Dart LSNext block, high dollar rotator with a single 94mm turbo and he couldn't keep bearings in it.
It was a fresh build and he never really had the opportunity to lean on it because it was such an issue.
Its entirely possible its an isolated incident but I thought I'd share it since you've also had bearing issues.
Great build btw!

We haven't had any issues really per-say with bearings, more or less crank flex which was causing the journal to touch down.
This block is a seasoned unit, have had 3 sets of bearings in it with the 427 and now the 402 setup.
Did they figure out the issue ?

He had a LOT of money in it too, I saw his Facebook recently and now he's running a N/A BBC so I think he gave up on it.
He mentioned that the LSNext has known oiling issues, again I don't know how much of that is fact but it was enough for him to pull the plug on his.
I'm glad your experience is different and I certainly wasn't intending to **** on your awesome build but I saw that beautiful crank and was compelled to say something lol.

Another update:
Sent my turbos down to Reed @ work turbocharges and he got them pulled a part and they are SMOKED! Reed has been super helpful through the whole process and steering me in the right direction. It really sucks that these failed soo soon for a high dollar turbo ( Billet wheel ball bearing 75/75s bought from Huron). I know for fact there is less than 10k on them, I bet there is less than 5k on them to be honest.
Options are to either rebuild or move, either way its roughly the same cost so at this point I think am going to move away from these units. I just can't destroy another set of $3000 dollar turbos in less than 2 summers worth of run time.
Also got started on complete rewire of the car with a complete Holley Dominator install. Slow94formula is taking on this job as I know nothing about wiring.
Some progress pics
Started by completely remove all the wiring from the car, under the hood and under the dash.
Stared with this...........
And will end with something like this........
Moved on to getting the wiring panel started and in the car. Slow94formula is killing it, it looks really great. It is going to be really nice to have everything easy to work on. We are trying to simplify as much as we possible can!
Placed a big order for wiring and associated stuff so that we can keep moving along. Slow94formula took a 2week vacation to Houston for TX2K18 and for his dyno dynamics training. Hopefully get started back on my car in April when he gets back.

There is a 1/4 turn valve in which i can shut off water flow to the a2w trans cooler. I typically just leave it open and let the water circulate through the a2w trans cooler. It works very well, only downside is that it eats the ice like crazy!
#476
Ah ok so you have the tranny oil going through a a2w too (that can be bypassed) in addition to a a2a trans cooler up front . Do you not use a heat exchanger for the water (I originally thought the trans cooler was being used as a heat exchanger and that’s what through me off)?

Um those are journal bearing turbos......... I have a buddy with a new pair of Xona 115/68 76mm Turbos that he is considering selling. They'll make way more than 1500 whp but are more than $3000 for the pair and smaller than those 7675's

Into the 7s finally!
Been a long time since I have made an update to this thread but since its the end of the season I will toss one in here. Car ran mostly without issues this summer and all the new changes paid off finally ( New turbos, Holley ecu, new trans ). Went to a private rental at Cordova dragway in IL with a few other fast cars and had a helluva a day!
First pass of the day was the best the car had ever been to the 8th going 5.13@140, and i knew pretty much it was going to be a good day if there were no issues at all.
The next pass the car went 5.067@142 , now I was getting stupid excited to be that close to a 4.99. One of my good buddies who also happens to be one of the best tuners in the Midwest currently if you ask me, was with and made another small adjustment and the car went 5.03@142.33.
At that point they opened the track up to 1/4 mile which really I was there for a 7 second pass, i knew the car was going to run it after those 1/8th mile hits. I decided to tighten the front down by reducing travel on the front shocks to make sure the car didn't wheelie. It was set somewhere between tight/really tight , but I have never used my limiters this year yet because we hadn't been to a track this sticky before. Tuner decided to add a little more power and take out some ramp as well since the track was holding every bit of power that was put in thus far.
Finally clicked off my first 7 second pass at 178mph! The car worked flawlessly, left soo hard, and drama free all day.
It was getting towards the end of the day, and we decided that we really wanted a 4.99 1/8th mile time-slip, and we thought the car could do it on that track. So made a shock change in the rear and added more power on the front half once again. I got the car to the line, left at my normal RPM and the driveshaft exploded. Luckily it was carbon fiber and there was no damage done to the underside of the car or any other components. I also have PST warranty policy on the driveshaft so I will be getting a replacement at the cost of shipping.
Overall I am super happy with the car and this summer. I have exceeded my cage cert by almost a 1 second. Not sure what I am going to change over the winter for next summer.
There are soo many people involved in this car and I definitely cannot do without them. I am thankful to have a couple really close buddies that always want to go to the track with me and help out as much as they can! Hopefully in the next couple of weeks I get to return the favor and help accomplish my buddies goal with his of running 5.3x in the 8th in his SBE foxbody.
