It does have a little undercut around the 7-8 oclock area in the picture. Id like to fusion weld hotsides together as it looks a little cleaner but I just dont have the skill yet on tubing to tubing as you definately dont want undercut and you need to get full penetration too. Much easier to get pretty welds without dabbing filler. Ive talked with several tig welders that weld tubing together with no rod and say even with less than full penetration its plenty strong. I just dont trust anything with less weld thickness than the pipe is thick if that makes sense so I only do it on tubing to flanges at this point. Id like to build a stainless kit on my Nova, fusion weld it all together, test it full tilt on the road course for durability.

As far as spool time, Im not worried. The size of the engine and components choosen is going to make some pretty stout power NA. With the typical 3500ish stall its pretty hard to tell when exactly boost comes in as it makes enough power that you have enough to worry about keeping the thing straight and tires planted. I have quite a bit of seat time in a twin PT6765 427 GTO and that goes from docile to fricken insane like a switch, this one should be just a little later coming into boost which may give the tires a chance. If I had to guess Id say full boost by 3500.

Welding tube to tube isn't as tough as it seems. With a bevel on each piece I just run a shallow root and then after it cools down make it pretty with the cover. I totally understand the degree of difficulty it is to wrap the weld around while trying to make it look uniform. That isn't a skill you learn over night. At least you got the back purging idea down seems some over look that when welding stainless.

Decided to go under the radiator with the cold side to avoid cutting the hood up going over the top.

Dual 3" into single 4". There will be a hole cut in the air dam where it goes through.

The upper pipe will need to be fit once the sheetmetal intake gets here. Also BOV's will be mounted, havent decided yet to hide them down low in the bumper or up top in the heat.

Whatever you do just make sure you put them before the MAF's.

Just a little update, more parts keep arriving every day except for the block .

This raised my spirits a little today though!

Precision MetalCraft intake

LS1NOVA will be working on the charge pipe next week, getting the BOVs mounted , cold side finished , and a bunch of misc. stuff that needs to be done!

nice build how low does that intake pipe hang under the radiator? Could it possibly be crushed from a wheelstand? I know when I did mine it scraped the front bumper completely across the front of the car...hard to tell how high it sits up
