Default Going Procharger, but wich one D1SC or F1A?

I am going to put a procharger on my trans am. The car has ported 5.3 heads, torquer v3 cam, 92 fast intake and tb. Also headers and full exhaust, built 4L60, and mwc 9in. I want to put the procharger on the car soon and build a motor later on. I know the d1sc will work fine now, but I might go ahead and spend the extra 500 and get the f1a, but I am not sure if I will be able to tone the f1a down enough so it doesn't grenade my ls1. I will probably never want more than 700rwhp but you never know. I am planning on running meth and pump gas. I am going front mount intercooler with either one. I just want to know what everyone thinks about which blower too get.

Easier to get a f1-a and have room or waste gate it

I think you need to look at spring mods for each one. I think the d1 could easily get you to 600 wheel. if you want more then maybe the f1. of course each one will require its own fuel system upgrades depending on the power level.

I know I will need a fuel system for either one, I am just stuck on which one too buy, I don't want upgrade the head unit later on, but just not sure if my ls1 will live with the f1a. How many people have put down 700rwhp or more through an auto car with a d1sc. I figure if I buy the d1sc and I don't put the power I want down I can spray 100 shot when I get a forged motor. Since I already have a nitrous kit. But I need to read up on the wastegate thing

700wrhp can be done with the D1 setup, i have the D1 FMIC and made 656 on 15pounds my issue is the motor is low compression is killing it. if you are planning on going further the 700wrhp i would go with the F1, you can go with low psi to keep the ls1 a live. Plus when you do go to a built motor to handle more power all you will have to do is change pulley instead of head unit. i believe one guy on here made around 800 with 10 pounds with a F1

but all depends on your gaols.....

Im well over 750 with a D1 but pretty much at its limit, get the F1 and put a bigger pulley on til you build your motor, you wont regret it

From everyone I have talked about this I can probably slow down a F1a enough to make the ls1 live, but I have got to decide if I will ever go over the 700 mark, if I get the D1sc and its not enough I have a nitrous kit on the car already, so I could add a small shot. Either way I have got to figure where I want to stop. But I know there is a lot of people who buy the D1 and upgrade later to the F1. I would rather just buy it once. I just got to make a decision on my end game.

I know it would make sense, to go ahead and buy the f1. But I don't know if I would ever use it. The 750rwhp mark, I think is all I will ever want, but the d1 won't do that and the f1 will easily do that. I don't want too under spin the f1 alot and only make power way up top. I hear the prochargers work great when spun hard

Many D1's have made north of 750, but not sure about your drivetrain and how much it would eat up power wise.
There's also the noise factor. F1's have a different/louder sound than a D1, but how much does that matter to you, only you can say.

I would probably get the F1 to save money upfront from buying it later. You need to make more than 700rwhp it though it you want to use it efficiently otherwise a F1 at 700 is gonna be lazy from barely spinning.

I don't think I would ever want to go over 750rwhp, and I would rather spin a d1 at max rather than barely spinning a f1, I don't want to sacrifice low end power. I am planning on building something like a AES 390 or 408. I think built right it will produce close to the 700 mark if not more. The dyno numbers aren't really a concern if the car goes in the 9's when I get a forged motor. All I really want is a 9sec street car

Believe it or not you'll get used to the power and want more. Well that's the way I am. F1a would take you pretty far and your low end I think wouldn't suffer my friend had one in fbody with a stock bottom end and it had plenty of power to spare.

I initially went D-1SC, but have traded up to a F1C. It is WAY overkill, but for the deal that Mod Jason Short offered me I could not pass up. I know it will be lazy on my 5.3, but when I build a 6.0 it will be the right fit.

The auto drivetrain will kill a lot of your power so better to go with the F1 anyway especially with bigger cubes.

As far as drivetrain is concerned I will probably go th400, when everything is said and done. My goal is to boost what I have now and still make plenty of power on a forged motor. So no one thinks a d1 can put my car into the 9's. It went 10.57 on a 100 shot and only dyno'ed 495rwhp. I see everyone saying go big but I am not sure if it's necessary. If it is I will get the f1. I just don't think my stock bottom end ls1 will survive that big of a blower

i have seen the d1 make 800 on a few setups. but as you stated yourself, they are working harder/making more heat to do so...... so the f1 just for the benefit that it wont have to work as hard to make power in the longrun. There is no reason not to spend the little bit of extra money to get it. it can easily be run on low boost, so that your safe. Some of that will obviously be dependent on your blower pulley, but also your max rpm.

Quick Reply: Going Procharger, but wich one D1SC or F1A?
