Default What would cause failure

Hey guys I purchased a built 390 long block forged crank rods and pistons made about 7 passes and engine got hurt, cylinders 1-3-5-7 all had damage holes in valves and the ends of spark plug holes melted so as of now I have to replace 1 head and 3-4 pistons trying to narrow the problem down.
Here's breakdown
390 ci Callie's dragonslayer crank compstar rods diamond racing pistons
F1a pro charger 3.90 pulley aster bracket 8 rib and front mount inner cooler
317 heads with 1/2 head studs 9.5-1 cr
Fuel set up is as follows
100lb inj. -8an feed and return lines boost referenced regulator 2 intank fuel pumps with Hobbs switch.
Also has snow stage 2 meth kit.
Tuning with hptuners and 2 bar sd set up
I'm not sure what final timing was but was between 18-20*
a/f ratio was set for 11.74.
So why would only half the engine have issue and other be fine
Bad injectors maybe? I'll post pics later.

Should be a fairly easy diagnosis when just one bank burnt down

What plugs?
Did the meth kit actually during the pass where it blew?
Was this on pump gas? Seems like an aweful lot of timing for that setup.
I remember some of us had some questions on the setup during your initial build thread....

Are you actually saying "holes in the valves"...or are you meaning something else ?

Maybe a bit too much timing, maybe a little too lean, but I'm thinking possibly too low coolant, or a restricted coolant flow on that side? Just speculating and throwing ideas out.

Plugs were ngk bref7's,
Was running 93 pump with snows boost juice mix
Making 16 lbs of boost.

As for holes I meant an actual hole in the valves ill load the pics up once I get home from work tonight.
As for cooling I have stock radiator no ac using 16" and 9" fans and a brand new ls2 water pump with *160 t-stat.
Heads are stock 317's
Reason why I'm asking is because people are telling me its a tune issue so I'm just trying to figure out what needs to be done
I was told car made 650rw on dyno but what I ran at the track and the cars weight puts it more in the 725-750 range.

Can you show how the fuel rails are connected? Are you running them in parallel or series? Where's the regulator?

Sounds like one large aspect is valvetrain related. Whether lifters, pre-load, etc

Did the pistons get damaged or look like piston to valve contact?

I'm sorry but running 16psi on pump gas on that setup, meth shouldn't be used as a fuel crutch.....meaning you shouldn't have been running 18-20* of timing. Just my opinion. I also wouldn't have ran that hot of a plug on that setup. I run BR7EF's on mine and Im only running 9-10psi and my timing is somewhere around 12*.

Unless he cleaned the chamber....to me it doesnt look like it went lean.
Was one head milled and not known? How are the valve springs? Picture of spark plugs? Picture of tops of all pistons on that side?

Looks like the regulator is hooked up before the rails but it's just outta frame so I can't say for sure. Was the passenger side head the one that took a ****?

What Skinny said^^^
What do the 2468 plugs look like?
As mentioned, 11.7 at that kind of boost = ??
Also, at 16#, a 2 bar MAP is outta resolution.
As mentioned, it looks mechanical. To confirm, look at the other side.
Take a look at exh valve seat contact. W/ that AFR and boost, the valves better be doing a good job of heat transfer...

That is with the meth or without the meth? 11.7 with meth would be ok if the meth didnt stop working. I also see that your are spraying your meth before the AIT sensor.. is that 18-20 with the meth? I think the problem is too much timing and the car out of the map.

i asked for the meth to be tuned in as a buffer to help prevent detonation.
