1000whp intercooler???

i can't log my IAT's but i'm just running the ebay A2A on my kit and have been to 949rwhp @22 psi so far with nothing exotic, just stock heads with a truck manifold turbo kit and a blower specific cam. not at all max effort setup so i think they hold up great and can be had for as low as $100-$150 new/used in the classified section usually. i've seen them used in apps over 1000rwhp as well. this is the 31x12x4 with 3" in/out unit btw.
hope that helps.

What he said! Because clearly there are no good examples on this site of them working to that power level. Furthermore, why spend only $150 when you can spend a minimum of $500.

lol pray hrd you have a good point. Ive saw them up to 1k but if yours holds up to that then theres no sense in spending all that money. I plan on running around 700whp but I want to be safe on the power side in case I wanna go bigger. Thanks for the input guys.

They dont cool and they dont flow particularly well. Just because a meth system makes up for the cooling inadequacies doesnt get around the fact they are not good performers at that level.
You could make 1000hp with no intercooler, does it mean it is the best option, after all it's cheaper than even a cheap unit ?
And the OP hasnt stated what usage. Obviously a top notch cooler is of less importance on a car that only spends a few seconds at WOT like a drag car.
If it was a car that sees more high power usage, then of course a better cooler again becomes more important.
There are many cheap options people could make on their cars but dont for obvious reasons. This is simply another one. Yes a cheap unit might get you by, but is it the bst or most sensible option ?

its the typical crx racing unit. i Just got a meth kit and not because i needed it but because it was basically given to me ($100) so how could i pass that up? lol i'm at 700rwhp on 93 pump gas and 949 rwhp on 110. high compression setup and have had zero issues with it. they don't flow the 'best' but they sure aren't bad either. just saying, i've got absolutely no complaints with mine.

Ya you got a great deal on that meth kit. Ill probably run a meth kit just to be on the safe side as well. I dont guess it could hurt anything. This is off topic but the hp difference between fuels is crazy! Im just hoping for 700whp but more is better lmao.

almost always is lol yea it was from a buddy of mine that went carb for his turbo setup and offered it to me for a price i couldn't pass up. if you can go E85, you'll need to worry about things a little less too. good luck man!

I have a Treadstone cooler in mine also. Quality is really nice compared to my eBay one I had. It was $375 so for a little more I opted this route vs the eBay but for me specifically I couldn't justify a $1000 fabbed one.

GMC has a stock GM bottom and runs a little 3'' core Nelson intercooler only rated for 600 hp lol. Ran sig times on 20 psi but has had 25 put to several times. Treadstone on Car is a 3.5'' vertical flow was around 480$ iirc. The crossflow cores are cheaper but will not fit my car. I don't think treadstone is a sponsor. I'm happy with the I/c but they kinda jacked me around on the order so I don't like to talk them up too much. Same goes with turbonetics...
