I guess I will start by giving a rundown of what I already had going on with the car. Its a 97 Camaro that I already swapped a built LS1 into. Its a 346, stock block and crank, GRP aluminum rods, CP pistons with 10:1 compression, Trickflow 225cc heads, Vic Jr intake with 4150 style throttle body, powerglide, Moser 12 bolt with spool, full tubular stock style suspension, etc. I have already been in the 8 second range with this car on nitrous using a Wilson Proflow single stage plate. I decided it was time for a change and wanted to go turbo. Here are a few pics of the car before we started the turbo build.......

The first thing we did was pull the motor and trans and all the wiring. Other than the suspension this was going to be a ground up build.

The old 6 point roll cage had to be removed so I could get set up to install a Wolfe 10pt chromoly cage

Once it was out I had the Wolfe 10pt installed by a friend David Farlow here in Durham NC.

I want the car to be as light as possible and we have already done a lot to get it light. However you cant skip over anything, so we did a little hole sawing to help out with the weight.

All while the work is going on I had the motor torn down the be freshened up as well as ditching the aluminum block for a 5.3 iron block that will be bored over to a 346. once the machine work on the block is done my rotating assembly, heads, etc will be transfered to the iron block. This is in process and I should have the motor back in less than 2 weeks.
In the meantime the cage got a little paint

We stripped ever piece of wire out out the car so we could drop a little extra weight and only add back wire that is needed to make the car run. We made a panel that will be behind the dash that holds all the relays. Also mounted the BS3 on the passenger side firewall behind the dash

Still waiting on the motor so in the meantime we started on the fuel system. I wanted to drop the weight of the metal stock tank and fuel lines so we ditched all that and went with a 3 gallon fuel cell. I didnt want it in the car so I mounted outside where the stock fuel tank went. The only problem with that is getting fuel in it. So what I did was make a "trap door" that you access inside the car to add the fuel.

Using truck manifolds with vbands welded on. This was done by the same guy that did my cage. He will also be doing the piping as well

Lol, yeah I know. I thought about getting rid of everything from the radiator support forward and only adding back what I needed for the radiator, intercooler, etc. I am trying to hold on to the street car look as much as I can right now. That all may change before its all over with though.

Well yes I know what you are saying but the more "race" looking a car gets the less I like it. I'm trying to walk that fine line of street car look and race car performance. To me if I did that I would be more on the race side cosmetically
