I finally killed my tired old 10 bolt and am having a Fab 9" by midwest chassi built, my question is since i can choose whatever transmision crossmember i want should i stick with a manual id go with a magnum or should I go auto? My main goal is not a track car but a car that has great driveability it see very little track time, I have never had a stalled auto i know they are faster, but how do they drive and how extensive/expensive is the swap? I am trying to decide if it is worth it or not. I know alot of you guys do have the experience so I would love some imput. Thanks.

Any of you guys who converted to auto have any input it would be greatly appreciated i did a search for how to do the swap but am more concerned about how the driveability was and what the real cost was? Thanks

Well its been over 4 months and im still waiting on my MWC 9" but the good news is I am upgrading my TC76 to a 78/75 while the car is down. Hoping to take the car to the track to see how it runs now that ill have a rear worthy of my power leve. So I ended up with the Fab 9" with the Strange pro hd alum center wiht S trac 35 spline axles 3.50 gear and strange brake kit with a PST aluminum shaft I think that should get the job done!

Do it and don't look back, its the best move you can make in my experience. I went to a th400 so the revs are higher cruising with no OD but I have no regrets at all. It didn't cost much for me because I did all the work myself including building the trans, the converter cost more than what I have in the trans.

I'm hoping I can figure out a way to get it to fit without hacking the hot side since I've got 600 in coating on it if not it is what it is I know there are quite a few guys with theses Kytp kits and maybe somebody knows a trick

Hotside looks pretty close to the Radiator. How are your engine temps?

If the car doesnt see extensive track time leave that thing 6 spd. There is nothing like slamming some gears in a high horsepower turbo car.

The charge side of the turbo is close, but the exhaust side isnt to bad i run a turbo blanket as well. My temps never got above 200 with the tc76 witht the compressor now being closer with the new turbo im not sure but if it does causes issues i have room to play with moving the radiator back ill just cut back my support some more thats an esay fix. I just dont want to hack up my hot side since its already coated I think i may beable to get away with stacking 1 or 2 t4 flanges to lift the turbo up and away from the belt. I will know this week when they come in the mail.

I am leaning towards this, just buying an RPM level 6 TR6060 with a trans cooler I just worry about clutches I have heard so many turbo guys say they switched to autos because they kept burning up clutches. My goal with this car is reliability and drivability it is not a track car by any means. BTW I see in you sig you have an HKE 370 as well do you know if they are still around or did they go out of business? I cant reach Erik, the number on there site is disconected.

He's still around currently just moved into a new location. I took this Saturday drop him an email it's back up. I hear you on the clutch thing, I haven't heard a whole lot of failures on my end. I'm about to try the McLeod RXT so I'll see how she holds up to 900ish
