I just got done making solid motor mounts and now its time to mount this glide/GV unit. Should i solid mount the trans too or run a poly mount?

I've always run solid eng mounts and an aftermarket poly trans mount without issue... I don't make 1200hp, but the trans brake is pretty rough on things.

I have the old poly mount that came off of the T56 so i could use that. Solid mount would be easier though.

Don't solid mount the engine and transmission both unless you want a nice cracked case. Solid engine, poly/rubber on trans

solid motor and rubber/poly trans. I prefer rubber, but whatever you do don't do it solid.

Why rubber? more movement? does the poly not provide enough?

Are we talking about a big difference between poly and rubber here?

Use rubber. Poly will transfer a lot more vibration. I've never had luck with poly.

I've solid engine and standard rubber T56 mount on my T56.

I think a softer mount for the trans isnt so much to accommodate what happens the trans itself, more the chassis.

Engine/trans bolted together is a substantial solid piece. However the chassis would be far more prone to twisting, especially durinng launch etc.

If you bolted engine/trans solid to the chassis and the chassis itself wasnt very rigid, then the chassis would be trying to twist the crap out of the weakest part...the trans mount

Twisting the chassis on this uni body is defiantly a concern of mine. I guess tying the trans mount into the "frame" is probably the best bet here. I didnt really think about all the load being transferred to the weakest link "trans mount"

Where are you guys getting these rubber mounts? Is it something i can pick up at oriellys or autozone? Id love to make some progress on it this weekend.

Man.. Shout out to FTI for some great customer service.. Turns out this deep pan is WAY to low.. like 2.5" lower than the oil pan. Troy sent me a stock glide pan and spacer for free.

Got some goodies for the car.. I kinda threw together the trans mount but it's not that bad.. All I had was argon so the mig welds look like ****. Also NO the bolt with 30 washers is not permanent, it's just there for mock up. On all 4 points of contact there is a piece of SBC rubber motor mount. Not my best work but I think it will be fine. I cut slots in the 1X1 and slid them into the old trans mount so it should be nice and strong with weld on top and bottom.
