Does the MS3 Pro use only wheel speed for traction control? It absolutely needs a g sensor as well and possibly other sensors as well to accurately control traction. Otherwise it needs to be off for the launch with anyone that wheelies, wouldn't it?

The Holley EFI TC is available thru Davis Technologies and is $599 for the basic one and $999 for the more advanced one. It's pretty reasonably priced.

You first do boost by gear/time and then dial in the TC. The TC isn't a miracle worker but can fine tune the power available. You can also use the front wheel hub as a pickup point for your speed sensor for the unit. That is what Skinnies does in the TT408 Mustang.

My original plan was to compare front wheel speed to rear wheel speed which the MS3 can do. However Scott suggested i go with rear wheel speed (picked up off of my driveshaft) vs time. Basically it knows that the car can only accelerate so fast in a given amount of time, and if it accelerates any faster then that, it knows its spinning. he claims that thats how all of the "big guys" do it, and thats how they battle the wheels up scenario of the ECU thinking your spinning when your really jsut lifting the front.

Well its been awhile since i have updated this thread. Dont expect anything to change, i have more bad news. I am unsure where i left off, but the Comp CT43 was having backpressure issues so i decided to sell the turbo and go with a different one. In the meantime, i just set the car up on 5 psi and played around with it. One day, while crusing down the interstate, smoke filled the cabin. Pulled over. The car was knocking. Trailered it to the house and eventually tore the motor down. Long story short, there was no piston ring on #7 piston and pieces of ring were in the top of the piston along with in the oil pan. NO clue why this happend. At the time the car was not being beat on.

After all that, i eneded up locating another LQ4 bottom end. I got it all cleaned up, and my heads, cam, etc. swapped into it. The shortblock itself is unopend. Completely stock rings and bearings.

I got the motor dropped in the car and now its on to modifying a few things for the new turbo to fit. The new turbo is an S475 with a T4 footprint and a 83mm turbine size. I had a friend selling it for a dirt cheap price and it is new and never ran. here are some size comparison pics with the Comp 8079

The raidator has been sent off to be modified. Basically just the inlet and outlet moved or modified to route out of the way of the compressor and piping. The downpipe will need to get a new flange welded to it and made the proper length. Beyond that, it seems to fit like a glove.

I will try and keep this thing updated a little better as time goes on. I have a few other things to do in the bay as well like loom the harness and make a support for the new heavy turbo. Either way, i am hoping to have the car finnished up in the next week and ready for a decent tune.

I have been really bad at keeping this thing updated. However, i did get everything put back together with the new turbo on and running. I also went from the CXRacing intercooler to a Treadstone intercooler that i had made to fit in the same location. Its a 4" thick core instead of the thinner CXRacing one. My back pressure did drop some, but i am still seeing 2.5 : 1. However i feel that at my lower boost level, i can make the motor live on this.

I had been out tuning the car and starting to get it turned up. I now have the car sitting at around 12-13 psi and am workign on getting it to launch and leave. I made my first two track passes At the Omaha Ice Cream Cruise. This year it was at the I29 raceway. they were also having a no prep race that same day, so the lights were off along with all of the good time slip info. All i got was an ET.

The car had all tuning prior to this on the street, so the launch control was setup to leave soft on the street. I never changed it for the track so the car was leaving extremely soft. That being said, the MS3Pro shut the car down when it got into boost, it was going lean. I found out later looking at the logs, that it was pulling 7% fuel due to how hot the weather was this day. I had never ran the car in temps that hot before (it was horrifically hot day to be racing on). I fixed the tuning file and gave it a second shot.

The second pass it still left soft, i short shifted first - again used to testing ont he street- and ran the pass out. It was my first full pass with the setup and the car ended up going 6.55. Not to shabby for all the things stacked against it. After looking at the logs, it was a little fat this time from adding fuel to it. AFRs showed aroudn 10.7.

Here is a video of that second pass. Enjoy:
