Default 5.3+ S480+ 91 octane pump gas=751 rwhp

Thought you guys might like to see a pretty kick *** little 5.3 on pump gas that got tuned yesterday. Combo is a 2001 5.3 with 862 heads, LJMS stage 2 cam, Forced inductions Billet S480 with a 92/1.10 hotside through a TH400. Tune is 18 psi/11.0 afr/ 11 degrees of timing with 91 octane pump gas and windshield washer fluid in the meth tank. 750.92 rwhp and 711 rwtq. One of the few pumpgas tuned 5.3's I've seen make over 700 rwtq. Kudos to Kris Kardimos out of Reno NV on the tuneup...

YES! plan is to take this thing to 840-850 as it sits. thats good for 8s on the stock motor. should be an easy task tuning wise. just needs some 110 and 15*. this motor is some sort of voodoo motor from the factory lol

You got to love it. I posted your thread on chevelles.com in the performance section and all the "haters" ie the big block guys want to slam it. Man us turbo guys can't get any love. Anyways, I think that its a bad *** build especially for the price involved.

granted, the turbo was more expensive but i wanted more than an "off the shelf" cookie cutter all out race turbo. i wanted to drive it on the street with reasonable spool. could i have cut the cost in half and bought the cast 80mm wheel and the standard 96mm turbine? hell yes! and the power would be about that same at this level. i paid more for some things that i thought would be important to me ON THE STREET. was there some lessons learned along the way? hell yes! you cant push these motors beyond 15 psi with stock head gaskets and head bolts! but a few hours in the garage over a weekend fixes that **** and its a moot point! i plan on working with liljohn and my tuner to push this motor as far as it will go on the stock internals. if it blows a motor big deal. ill either buy another $500 motor or forge one and go from there. either way im just happy to be a part of this process.

You said it brother. Anyone but us LS turbo guys don't understand the blowing them up and throwing another one in. Yet, the big block NA guys will spend thousands on new heads, intakes, carbs, cams, etc... I get my engines for $523 and that's with them running. I will happily replace them every 6 months to go fast in them and still drop some great gas mileage.

Nice #'s. I am running the standard cover non-billet S480 92/1.10 on my LQ4 this year. Hoping to make those #'s with it on E85. I too wanted something that would be more street oriented.

John nice job. Yes Del and I are not in the inner circle anymore over at chevelles but that's Ok. BBC's are a great engine but they tend to be horizontal milling machines because of bad cams or lifter failure.

cool build, and as said if it dies, get another block, everything else is already there
curious if you guys running turbos run an oil filter in line to the feed line just in case of contamination to save it, esp on the budget builds
