Default lots of important vortech questions

Will the head unit from a vortech kit for a 2001 camaro fit on a 1998 vehicle? What are all of the differences between the SQ trim and the regular gtrim? Will it say anywhere on the head unit if it is an SQ trim? Is the gearing different between the two head units? Is one stronger/more durable than the other? Thanks

The head unit was the same for all kits of year 98 to 02, only difference was brackets. SQ= Superquiet the SQ is still a G-Trim but with spiral cut gears, the straight cut gears are supposed to be more durable, but I've not ahd any trouble with my SQ yet. :finger cross: As far as I know the Output is the same between the two.

So the head unit from a 2001 camaro kit will not fit on a 1998 camaro that originally had a regular g trim head unit?

The G-trim IS the V9 head unit.
As already said, the kit is the same for ALL LS1 1998-02 F-body.
Only difference is hood clearance in the SS camaro.

provided you have the full kit, then yes, it will work on all 1998-2002 vehicles.

.... however, if your piecing the kit together, there are 2 different mounting brackets, one for the cast gear case blowers (older) and one for the billit gear case blowers (newer)

I'm not sure the difference, I have a newer blower, and the older bracket. Vortech says i need the new one.
