Dude, save your excuses until after he goes to the track!

And if it is not a race kit, then what is it? Is there any other kind of turbo kit? Is it a towing kit or something? I am just asking because I don't know - oh wait, you're just messing with me, right?

It's the perfect towing kit, they have a rock clibing truck equipped with it, no over heating probs. but seriously STS billed it as a "street" kit

it's not an excuse, but if you figure a couple cars here dance around 1000hp flywheel hp and don't break into the 9s, even with conventionally mounted turbos, not to mention on superior ls1 cars, if this non-vented optispark car does go 10s some people Got Robbed. (is the pun intended?)

yes, the LS1 does sound like a V8. if you get a bov it will make a whistling noise when you let off, instead of the hard to describe sound it makes in the vid. if no bov you get the vid noise.

What good is a turbo kit if the size of the turbo or design only allows power upper-mid RPM or makes peak power and than drops off. I would rather see the run complete to 6200-6500rpms. Needs bigger turbos or exhaust back pressure addressed.

The reason it works off the compressor map is because they are not using a standard turbo. It's a custom. The part you are using is just the housing. I forget which they are actually using... I read it on another board. Surely someone knows the answer to this?

it is still pushing the efficiency range even with it being custom, i would love to see someone put a bigger turbo on there and see what happens.

The T67 is not much different on the compressor map then the standard T66. The compressor wheel is only 1mm larger...hehe

Why would they use a custom turbo it's not like they are restricted by space?

Not sure what is custom about it. Sounds like a regular T67 with a .96 A/R if I remember correctly.

thats what i thought too, they use a custom turbo because of EGT's that far away from the headers. i would think a 60mm compressor would be a 60mm compressor but i may be wrong. and when i said bigger turbo i meant 76 or so mm's

The only thing custom would be a small A/R on the 67. Not much else can be done...

What i don't understand is how this kit can make more power with a turbo then the turbo can support according to there compressor maps.
Fo instance the T67 @ 12psi can flow a max of 60lbs/min which equates to about 550rwhp and the 60-1 numbers are also higher then the turbo can support for a specific pressure ratio.
I don't know what their correction factor was... but I do know that running straight methanol can give you a decent gain in hp....I have seen 10-15% gains posted on other boards in certain applications.

we'll probably be dynoing my truck today for the first time with the STS kit on it. I still have the small exhaust housing on my GT35. I don't know the exact turbo sizing but on the unit in ink was 61mm to 68mm. The new housing will be a 91mm they said.

So we'll see if the power drops off hard like the others. I am pretty sure it will but not worried since the new housing isn't on yet. We will redyno with the new housing and post up to compare once it comes in.

If I remember correctly Rob gained 50rwhp with just alky injection and 93 pump over his 93 and race gas mix at the same 11psi boost.

I wouldn't doubt it. Race gas doesn't lower your IATs like Meth will.

Hey guys I'm building my own similar kit but will be using a T70 and will be testing out a .81 AR and .96 AR housing on it. The kit will be really similar but custom tubing etc and the turbo will have it's own oiling system. I'll be making a skid plate for it as well which will also help keep water and debris from the road off of it. I'll keep you all posted as to what it does hp wise.
