I didn't think of that. You think the few that are already torqued on that head have stretched? I don't know how many times people re use these things..

I went 9.04 on them. Lesson learned here is that pro comp studs keep you out of the 8s. BUYER BEWARE!

I had a set of china studs on another build - a 5.3 and they handled 80ftlbs no problem. I have the Alpers on this LQ9 now and had the heads off already and reinstalled and tq'd to 70 lbs - all good.

Anybody ever worry about bore distortion when going to 80+lbs? I know my BBC cylinders moved ALOT with the heads being bolted on, so 80+lbs concerns me.

I called Alper when my head stud snapped and they were awesome. Sent me an extra one out 2day free. He personally told me not to torque them past 65lbs. So, I got one head torqued to 75 and one on 65. Looking for 15-18 pounds of boost, we'll see what happens.

I ran a set at 70ftlbs and 20psi last year.

Also I torqued a set of them to 80ftlbs last night. Good to know they will send me some when I snap one haha.

Wow, I'm surprised 80ft lbs isn't distorting the block.

Do you have examples of LS blocks distorting from this?

80ftlbs is the ARP spec.

@ 80lb ft distorting a motor.. Strip threads/snap a bolt? Sure "distorting a motor" not a chance.
