Default What do you think about this cam (turbo 5.3l)


SBE 5.3, 853 heads, ls6 intake, 75 mm t.b, with s475 83mm 1.10t6. Looking to make 700 ftlbs. On e-85.
It's going in a 4500lbs 4x4 75 k10, Turbo 400, 208 transfer case,
4:10 gears with 37 inch tires.

I'd run it... My 212/212 @ 112 makes some power down low for sure. I've run it in a 5.3 and a 4.8.

It will definitely make some tq, but lift seems really high for that duration. Lobe might be really aggressive.

LSL/LSL lobes...

I wouldn't run it in a turbo motor. Too aggressive of a lobe imo.

Meaning? Hard on valve springs?

Yes hard on springs... will get into a valve float condition earlier in the rpm range.

So I can get this cam for FREE. Machine shop has it sitting on the shelf. Should I use it or put the stock one back in. Maybe keep rpm's below 6500. Is there a option for springs or **** the cam stock for now and get one later.

Free now.... could end up costing you alot more later...

If you are dead set on running it because its free... buy a BTR Platinum spring kit and put on the heads with a set of matching pushrods. roughly 400 bucks for both.

Not to hijack but how would a 206/214 527/549 on 112 be in a 4.8/s475 be in a roughly 5000lb truck?

I run the 54-450-11 that is very close to those specs. and mine works very good in a 6.0
