haha....sounds just about exactly how I felt with my car first time got it back with the new motor/setup.
I would go with 3.42 gears. I don't know what your torque curve is like but with my 427ci and D1 making 900whp and 860tq it will light up my nt05r into 4th gear on the freeway sometimes, and even with brand new mt et street R and 17" rim zero traction on street or airstrip in 1/2nd gear. So no need for lower gears. I think for >700whp 3.42 are perfect unless you have a powerglide or maybe are drag racing a lot on real slicks.
I also overfill my t56 and it's working great at my power level for quite awhile now and shift/feels/sounds like new.
I'm REMOVING THE WASTEGATE:
It was a good experiment. The results along with some new knowledge of what is actually happening when the gate opens, lead me to the decision.
I recently hit 500 miles ( clutch is broken in). With that said, the fun began !
All that I can say is that "on paper " the concept of an "earlier TQ curve" , sounded good. The reality is, I'm completely over powered for the street. I'm sure there are plenty of " I told you so" comments ...... but I had to try for myself. To cut to the chase, now that I am free to push the limits , the power band is too explosive & the car becomes a Huvver Craft at any speed with only a 1/2 throttle pop.
In addition, this decision to experiment with the gated system was made a few years ago. Since then I did quite a bit of research and was lucky enough to have one of the ProCharger engineers help get into my thiick head the understanding of compressor maps & the pressure being put upon the ProCharger & crank once the gate springs open & creates an artificial leak. Bottom line, for my needs this was not a smart option. If anybody is interested, there is a link at the bottom. It is a thread from another site re: the waste gated systems & comments from a ProCharger rep.. This is what lead me to more research, a conversation with the ProCharger engineer & ultimately the decision to remove the system.
We are in the process of removing the Wastegate & boost controller. Replacing the 3.6" head unit pulley with a 4". While she's up on the racks I'm finally replacing my 4:10 gears. I'm leaning heavily toward 3:73's while considering 3:42's.
I'll continue down the rabbit hole w/More fun to come !
I'm a couple hundred HP short of this guy and i wouldn't consider going any higher than 3.42's for my 6 speed street car. I will probably go with 3.25's when I pony up for a Midwest Chassis fab 9.
lot of fast cars have gone faster by going with longer gears. different platform but that black horse turbo 911 jumps to mind. way faster in 1/2 mile with taller gearing on same motor.
Thanks for the advice guys.
I pulled the trigger on the 3:42's and a new Truetrac carrier.
I just realized that the new gears need to be broken in before I can really put it to the test.
Holy mackerel ....... I'm in a perpetual "hurry up & wait program" !

A couple heat cycles and they will be fine.... then hammer on it.
It can be set up to be able to beat the **** out of it right away. I've broken in numerous sets of street gears with a quick full power 200 foot rolling burnout and never had an issue.
DYNO results. Ran out of injector @ 5,500 RPM. But I'm happy with the direction that this is going.
I was contemplating not spending the money & just live with it a while .... But a wise man suggested I do it the right/safe way. I'm putting ID1000's in this week & we will let it eat. My guess is that it will hit about 800 HP once properly fueled past peak TQ. ???
Truth is I'm satisfied with the TQ curve as it sits & really can't ask for more.
Note: The " witch doctor" wastegate system was removed & my goal for low end TQ has been attained. The 3:42's are in and what a difference all these adjustments made.
Thanks to all for the good advice. I'll post up the round two after the injector swap.
Looks good so far! I can't wait to put more break in miles on my motor and tune/dyno everything. I'm about 2.5 hours away near Tampa/Orlando area. I'd like to see yours hit 800. That would give me some hope on my new setup.
When I see these builds, it pulls me toward the Procharger D1 or F1a and knowing most car guys, having reserve without sacrificing fun...
What made you choose the F1a?
Do you spray any Alky or Meth Mix? Just saw you are Forged ;-) Many stock internal builds use for safety in tune, detonation is the killer of Parts for sure...
Great Info & Build to learn from, so much knowledge around here!!

Patience .... Your almost there. Keep us posted.
