Default Masterpower t76

im in the process of a turbo build on my car and came across a pretty good deal on an entire kit with a mp t76
I remember them being pretty popular a while back but there isn't much info to be found anymore
I think it's a p trim wheel, but I'm not positive, and a .96 a/r

I just had a 5.3 built that should be around 9.9:1 compression with 243s
Will be using a little 204/211 cam and e85

Just wondering how much power the thing will support, how fast it'll light off, if it chokes up top, etc

I had planned on going twin 6162s originally but packaging in a Gto is very tight.
If I buy this single setup from someone else it eliminates a lot of hassle and fab time, and it's quite a bit cheaper
Just wondering if I'd be better off selling the turbo that comes with it and using something like a tc78

Master power 70mm on my 5.3 did 589rwhp through a th400, just under 13lbs of boost. The 76mm will probably do 100 more.

Tc78 is better.

Without knowing my goals, how can you determine what is going to be better for me.

I'd like to make around 700 wheel through an auto
Anything pretty close to that and I'll be happy

Car previously trapped 127 at around 3800 lbs
I'd like it to be mid 130s when it's done

Don't waste your money on master power turbos. A rebuild kit does not exist any more and there is no support for them.

I think the comment was directed at the single route you were contemplating selling the MP unit... The TC78 is just a better turbo. Google fastest tc78 and you will get the idea. For the money/size they are hard to beat for a modest performance goal.

Ding, ding, ding. We have a winner. The tc78 is a compact turbo that will work Well with a 4.8/5.3/6.0 and make decent power.

Wasn't trying to come off like an ***...lol

Just wasn't sure if It was apparent what kind of power I was looking for
The mp turbo comes with it, I won't be wasting money on it.
Just curious what its capable of

How much are you buying it for? If it's under $250 I would say go for it... I was able to squeeze out some good power out my mpt70

Buying someone's entire setup, hot side, cold side, everything
That's the turbo that it comes with
if it'll make 650+ I'll probably just use it
If it won't then I'll sell it and buy something bigger

MP was a good lower end turbo built in Brazil I believe. I owned 2 brand new units exactly like the one you have and they were rated at 900hp each at the flywheel. I changed directions before I used them, but I heard a lot of good results about them. If you want more info on them try and contact V.S. racing. denmah deals with them a lot, (they even have a kit named after him. Lol) and they used to be direct dealers for them. Talk to Viron.

Good luck with your build.

Master power were great turbos. They were Garrett knock offs. However the company pulled out of the U.S. A while ago and there is no support for them, rebuild kits included. They have since created a new line but do not distribute to the US on a large scale. I spoke with Head of international sales trying to get kits for my T61's. They turned me over to a guy in Miami that never produced. I'd be extremely surprised if anyone sold kits for them.

Yeah I'd rock it until the wheels fall off if the price was right. I was just trying to give you a heads up about the company as I've searched high and low for support to no avail. If you do find a company let me know as I still have a T61 that needs to be rebuilt.
