Sweet! Can't wait to see the new combo, and hate that the old one let go.

I assumed he just used a couple breathers, metco or similar on driver side and a couple little ones at the stock PVC hose locations

Wow, terrific carnage. Sucks you don't know what happened, and really sucks you didn't get a chance to see what that combination was good for. New combo sounds promising though. Was the lead going to the wastegate melted? It's in a high heat location, figured thats what caused it. Whats the thought process on dealing with possible future boost control issues?

Did you have water/methanol injection on this setup or not Matt? And what fuel were you running when it happened?

I'm just curious how many octane safety nets were in place when the kablammo happened. Seems like potentially an interesting data point.

so if gate priority is bad, how is it not a problem on 7psi, and how was it not an issue all day, and for months prior to this?

Matt,

Do you run any sort of air filter?

The coil on the 4 port valve you are using for boost control is tiny, it can't really generate very much force. I wonder if after thousands of street miles without any filter one tiny bit of sand/dust/crap from the intake manifold could make its way into the valve and make the spool sticky, resulting in unreliable boost control?

there are certainly lots of possibilities haha, but boost valve is working fine, i tested it again when i tore it down, ill test it again when its running again.

this 250k mile 6.0 i got as a replacement i tore down, and the top ring gap is 17-20 on nearly all of them, *didnt get them all out yet*

im pretty surprised after 250k that some are that tight!

certainly would cause an issue on 14+psi and strait pump gas in my opninion

my datalogs show boost flat, no problem in high on the track with the tire, still level at 6psi

then i turned my **** on that one pass and it was dead even 8 then dead level 12psi

so no issues in high, foot to the floor while adjusting...

That's crazy! Gonna gap them out a bit then?

Ok, saw the video. Good stuff! I can't wait to see how much punishment this one can take with the rings gapped out appropriately. (and with that big ole' turbo that should blow a lot of air without heating it up quite so much)

Can Viren get you a replacement turbine wheel for the 7875 or do you think it's not worth the hassle? That turbo might live quite a while if it isn't out of balance.
