Are you referring to the VS Racing 88/83 turbo?

I found out yesterday from VS Racing that the 88/83 turbo is sold out (he sold his last one earlier yesterday), but he will have more in stock in a few weeks. When I asked about how that turbo would work with my setup, he said it would be a good choice and easily help me reach my 700 to 800 rwhp goal.

That right there is why I'm likely going with that turbo. Mine should be in that ballpark with a LS1, my current AI Dart/RHS CNC'd heads, and a bigger custom turbo cam. Denmah, you are the man. Thanks for always being so helpful on here.

Probably has a lot to do with where they are made.

How is the spooling with this turbo? I'll be running a 5.3 thru a 4l80 w/precision 3900 converter and a tick stage 2 cam. 3:55 gears.

If I had to guess, I'd say it would be the tolerances and attention to detail when machining along with materials used and the quality of parts. Again this is all an assumption, but that'd be my guess.

Yes 14psi and 15 deg on that run, we ran out of time, we were having tranny issues. On another pass after this one it made 730 aborting at 5500rpm on 18psi, looking at the curve it would have been well over 780 on that run. This dyno reads super low. 700rwhp at 3200lbs will run 150mph. We have another fox that has a gt45 88mm and it runs 148mph with close dyno numbers.

Maybe 15 psi or so (for these combos) is the eBay 88s sweet spot. Maybe it becomes inefficient afterwards so no one sees the bigger numbers. Just a thought.

For the price and power potential of this turbo, it seems like a win/win to me. Too many times people want to make the magical 1,000 RWHP, but how usable is that really going to be, and is it worth the extra money for one of the top end turbos. I'd say in most cases, no if it's going to be a fun street car that will see track action occasionally.

No reason in the world that 88 shouldn’t make 20+lbs on that setup. If he's making that kind of power on 14 I’m impressed with the turbo. Wondering how it stacks up against the base level similarly priced S475.

Would be great to have some track trap speeds to back the numbers though. We’ve all seen high HP dyno numbers not match trap speeds for one reason or another.

The guy that just took the stock LS 4.8 record is a great example. Dyno’d “only” 850ish whp, yet he runs 8.3X trapping 162 @ 3000+lbs. Which some 1200whp dyno cars can’t seem to manage at similar weights.

price and potential is great
if you want more power you need to get a bigger turbine wich you cant really get a china turbo wit ha larger turbine

this is one of the largest turbine red sea express's you can get

otherwise i goto forced inductions and get a 92-96mm turbine in one of many flavor's
