Supercharger vs Turbo.... OFFICIAL ARGUMENT THREAD.
#242
Would you take me serious if I passed on a 2000 ss with 55k on the odometer, that was in really good shape...that made 810/875 with a forged bottom end for 15,. Only to do it myself and and spend double? Not sure if this counts, but I pulled the motor last month and rebuilt it. Now, with the same tune and on a Mustang dyno as opposed to last time (dynojet) it makes 820/908. But now I'm at a crossroad.....either make the car run a number....or just keep it to being a fun street car. Only ran 11.83 @135 last outing. Wasn't all in....but still not really fast. And btw this is on a VERY soft tuneup....14 degree on E85.

To each their own. I love the sound of my procharger. One of my fav parts about starting the car. And with an LS1 with a D1 and stock heads intake, small exhaust through an auto and 9" rear made 630/605 and ran 10.49@129 (131 best mph) consistently just launching off idle. It's not all about power made. Anyways I'm sticking with Prochargers. My next move will he F1A once I meet my ET goals. It really seems more like a personal preference to me.

Game ova,
You can't knock a particular set up because "you" don't like the way it sounds. You can't knock a set up or claim to have done something the right way if you didn't do it. You bought it that way. Which is totally fine. That is the cheapest way, but don't comment with your opinions if all you have ever done is drive a car.

Game ova make some points that could be valid, however most of what he types is just his opinion.

I guess if we are posting dyno graphs... here's what mine looked like. You can see the torque flatten as my tires spun on the dyno, but that's my fault for trying to run a 19" tire.
This was only 13.5 degrees of timing as well....
I have no doubt that if I could have put a better tire on the car, I would have been close to 800 ft/lbs of torque, maybe more. I also discovered that I installed my idler pulley for the blower in the wrong position, causing the tensioner to bottom out, so I was losing boost.... not a big deal. I moved the idler, and now it makes 18.5psi compared to when I dyno'd only making 16psi. 2.5psi should be good for a few more ponies. To that point, I'm not even at max rpm for the blower, and it's a solid 900rwhp setup.

I have a turbo and I ain't changing but building boost and launching with it is a downside. I don't have much track time on my car but a finicky 2 step and not wanting to install a brake makes staging "annoying". I would love to be able to roll up and mash the gas while hammering nice 60's.

My cousin has a supercharged Trans Am. I took my car over to let him ride in it and eventually he drove it the same day. I left to go home and I get a text saying he just purchased a turbo kit for it.
He said he liked how the turbo didn't feel linear to him like the supercharger does.

And this is just one of many reasons turbos reign over superchargers. My belt has never slipped on any turbo car I've ever owned.....OR my work truck.

As far as installs it seems to me that superchargers are way easier to install and tune than turbos so that's a plus for superchargers IMO
