I'd go with on3 well before I went precision . I'm currently running. Turbonetics turbo and love it. But for the price of a precision, and then numerous horror stories I've seen coming right out of the box, I'll stick to what has worked for me. My buddy runs an on3 setup , and the cars very fast, from 4000 up. My 7868 is full on by 27-2800 and pulls hard till 6000. All a personal preference , but my turbo I have now , has hardly any lag, which even centrifugal blowers have .

I pieced a Huron ac kit, turbonetics 7868, cxracing intercooler, gate , bov and everything I needed for around 2300 total! That's with a turbo k member , brand new turbo , and a insanely great deal on eBay for the hot and cold sides! I saved so much on my quality build that I went ahead and got Holley hp efi. All worth every penny for sure.

Went and talked to my local speed shop about a turbo install. They do custom turbo setups, and a lot of them. They also race with them so I figure they really know what works and doesn't.
Pros:
- The install cost with precision turbo, tune, K-member and custom fab to get my kooks TD's to work is about what a D1SC would cost. I wouldn't have to do much which is nice. Does not include fuel upgrades so might be a bit more.
- Could sell my headers to get some money back.
- better power and ability to add more easily.
Cons:
- Have to tap oil pan, not a big deal to most but I would like to bring everything back to stock if need be some day. I asked about the self contained turbos and he said they have had bad experiences with them and they are not as efficient.
- Have to cut up my Kooks TD's to work. Could never re-sell them.
- Have to pull the heads to put studs on. Not sure if I should do this with a D1 or not but that's what he recommended for a turbo.
- Have to replace K-member to keep A/C which I absolutely will not give up.

For comparison... Here is an old outdated turbo setup done back in 2006.
(Ignore the info on the sheet that was old info form the last car they never bothered to change.)
Here is the run down…
355 cube SBC, std stroke
Twin 57mm turbos @ 20psi
7.2:1 Compression (no IC, on methanol)
24 deg timing, Dig 7 ignition
256/245@ 114 cam .510 lift
Oem iron heads, 162 cc intake runner
1.9 , 1.5 valves, ferreo 5000 series 148 lb installed
Felpro 1003 head gasket
Twin T3 57mm turbonetics
Full boost and 900ftlb before 4k. 950ish ftlb from 4k to 5400. Over 900ft lb to 5700 and over 1000hp at 6100.
This is on OEM iron heads and baby turbos. Slap a set of china 72/68’s on here with a cheap aluminum head and decent cam at 9:1. I think it would beat up on that 427. For 1/5th the cost...or less.

You shouldn't need head studs with either method of forced induction for 8 to 10 psi. Bob

You don’t need fancy turbo manifolds. You can easily keep your current manifolds and not cut them. As well as keep the AC without replacing the K-member with a remote mount kit. You also don’t have to tap your oil pan with a remote kit. It uses a scavenge pump. You can pump the oil right back to the oil fill tube.
Guys are making 700+whp on untouched factory head bolts and gaskets. But it’s a good idea to swap out to the LS9 head gasket and studs IMO with any power adder… I wouldn’t bother for under 700hp. If/when you lose a HG, replace them then, and do the cam swap while your at it.

Anyone have rear mounts here? Im lowered 1.25" and curious about ground clearance. What about water...i dont drive my car in the rain but sometimes you just get caught in a unexpected storm.

No rear mount here, but it would stand to reason that unless you are driving through a creek...you should be fine. Even if you do drive the car in the rain, the turbos shouldn't be pulling enough vacuum to pull in water off the ground. Unless you are standing in it in the rain.....

There is a ton of space back where the OEM mufflers are. Shouldn’t lose any ground clearance if done correctly. There is also that little cubby hole area in the trunk that can easily be cutout from the bottom and free up tons of space. Not that that is necessary, but it is a pretty useless space IMO and I had planned on removing it. That would allow you to put the filter higher. I'd also run one of the off-road filter socks over a cone style.

Im at that point where im asking myself if I should stay with my original plan and put an F1 on it, or put a single turbo kit on it. Motor already has a blower cam I it, kooks headers, 9.5 to 1 compression.

One of the all time greats in Ultra/Extreme street, Eric Kenwood, switched from turbo to an F1A-94 Procharger. He ran his fastest MPH ever. Others have reported similar results. Food for thought.

FYI for anyone who is thinking about buying a ProCharger. ProCharger is having a price hike on March 31st, it was to be earlier this year but has been pushed back until March 31st. Bob
