Default Boost Estimate

Hello all, getting ready to dyno tune my 2000 SS M6. Just installed the procharger P1SC1 6rib, 3.10 head unit pulley, and twin intercoolers. Engine wise the car is stock besides 1 7/8"TSP LTs, 3" duals dumped, PSI1511 springs. I have no idea the amount of boost it will be running, I tried searching but I see a lot of different answers. Tried a calculator and came up with around 6. Just looking to get an idea before I go to the dyno. I am basically at sea level. Thank you.

Edit for clarity, fuel system is not stock, Walbro 400 and 80lb injectors.

Lol that's something you might want to get sorted out before you spin it up. Might make enough to break stuff right off the bat if the engine is stock...... Or run out of fuel for the boost you're running. Hopefully you've got the fuel system sorted. I'll bet the 3.10 pulley will be 10lbs at least. Good luck to ya man

Walbro 400 with 80lb injectors. Should suffice I imagine haha

Update: I looked at my messages from the guy I purchased the Procharger from and he was only getting 8lbs out of the small pulley. Looks like he had similar mods to my car but he had an ls6 intake. His elevation is sea level also. I find it interesting that there is such a huge variety with boost amounts even with similar set ups.

Boost is really only a measurement of "resistance" in regards to the engine's ability to consume the amount of airflow its being given. Naturally higher following exhaust, higher flowing heads or bigger displacements will cause boost pressure to be lower on a same setup. (same pulley same supercharger turned at the same rpm)

Thanks for the response TA. Just out of curiosity, would you say an intake or an exhaust is more important for a supercharger or is it a wash.

I'm no expert but I say exhaust for sure. Supercharger will cram it in. Exhaust needs the help.

Curious. My friend thinks the opposite haha. I have a friend with a supercharged c5. His advantage is the ls6 intake but his exhaust is only 2.5 all the way out the back and says the intake is more important than exhaust

Supercharger provides the means to get the charge in, but to upgrade the exhaust is where the biggest dividends will be paid. Mods supporting mods.

The cam will make the bulk of the difference in who is on the right side of the argument. With low (or zero) overlap cams, I can see the intake making more difference in power potential. With a larger overlap cam, getting the exhaust right suddenly has a similarly larger influence on airflow.

We're both running stock cams for our year LS1's. His being a 98 C5 and mine being a 2000 Camaro. Someday though, there will be a nice lopey cam in that engine haha.

Tomorrow's the tune day 😎. Im pretty excited. Installed some psi1511 springs last night, never doing that again while the engines in the car if I can help it haha. Hope everything goes well, gonna try and raise the rev limiter a bit if everything holds and its still making power.

Any update? I'm curious how much boost / whp it made with that pulley. I have a 3.2 on the kit I'm installing now and I'm a little worried myself about boosting too high and breaking ****.

Hello MadMike, I made 484/444 at a bit over 7psi, I think there's more to be had though. I noticed the air plenum was flexing the stock flex hose from maf to the manifold under boost and making a pretty strong angle for the air to get to the manifold. What's your setup and elevation?

I have an '02 Z28 that I installed a D1SC on over the winter. I have an SNS stage 2 cam 227/235, .613/.620, LSA 110, P/P throttle body, 1 3/4 long tubes with full exhaust and a cutout. I made 525/507 at 7.7lbs of boost. I have a morgan motorsports crank pulley I think 7.85" with a supercharger pulley 4.0". My tuner told me he thinks I will gain 2-3 lbs of boost by changing to a 4" inlet.
