Eddie also said we'd discuss cutting it or him using a press. I think he has to look at his options. My buddies lean towards me clearancing it to just get it out and redo the piping over in 5" in the winter.

Issue: Car shakes 70mph and higher. Really sketchy at 100mph.

I'm working through a list of items, so today I got the rears re balanced:
-Wheels are fine and not bent
-One tire took 12 oz of weight... dang
-One tire took 5.5 oz and has a slight flat spot
-Tires were fully beaded

So I'll throw them on and drive the car this weekend if the weather is good, if it's better then I don't have to pull the driveshaft.

I still need to have my buddy Eddie V clearance the exhaust. maybe he'll heat it up and use a press or want to cut and weld a section, I don't know yet. This is the plan for now. Some day I'd like to converter it to 5" but right now I want to make some passes in it.

Smart trying to figure it out and not just go make a banzai pass for the hell of it. I’d still keeps it to the 1/8 for the first time out. It’s gonna run good I’m sure.

Reading my mind, totally thinking 1/8th.

I should share a pic of the wheel weights, I don't think they will stay on even with some tape. Leaning forwards getting a new pair of tires, I got these used with 5 passes from a buddy so I only have $80 into them.

For $80 I’d throw em right in the barrel!

Old tires can look good, but also fool you-I had 3 of the tires on my car trailer fail on the same day, plus the trailer hitch on the truck failed also, same day, rusted from the inside out (2011 Silverado). Had just inspected the tires, serviced the wheel bearings.

Holy s__t @3 window I didn't even think about that and neither did John evidently lmao.
Excited for John to get out there and make some serious rips and not get rattled to death.
John, do you know if the tire shop tried rotating the tire on the rim to try and reduce the amount of weight needed?

I honestly forgot to ask the tire guy about that when I was there, so I emailed him later. He said he thinks it would not have made that much of a difference, an answer that some friends agree with, others don't.

It may not have made any difference with that much weight required; I was more curious than anything.

Yeah some friends think it would have made a big difference but honestly with the other tire having a flat spot these tires are coming off.

@gjohnsonws6 great to have dinner with you yesterday, fun to talk about cars. I will say though today is crazy hot here and the air hurts my face.

Was a great time and I can’t get over that place. Thank you again!

It’s not even hot here yet lol. I’ve been outside in direct sun all day for three days straight now so I’m exhausted. It takes at least a couple weeks to get acclimated. I’ll be spending more time in the northern part of the state until fall.

Hopefully you get the shaking issue resolved soon and can comfortably make some test hits. 12 ounces is a lot, if new tires don’t do the trick it’ll be time to go after that driveline. I wouldn’t surprised if it needed a balance regardless of what the tires are doing. Is that the original one that came in the car when you first got it? Might
want to investigate what diameter, material, type of joints, and slip yoke it is set up with just to be safe.

Yeah tires, and then see how it is. If it still has issue, which I think it won't, I'll pull the DS and have it re balanced.

Yeah that restaurant was great.

You are acclimated to this AZ weather. It's actually killing me lol.

I’ll be sure to send you a screenshot next January when it’s 71 here and -30 there.

I was there 2 Xmases ago, was 60F and very nice.

I ordered MT DRs from Winners Circle, one of the last great speed shops in the greater Chicago area. Might be in today or tomorrow, will grab them and swap the rears.
