Default l59 cam wiped out.....

so i just finished the mock up of 5.3 /7875 turbo( jy 05 L59, 146 k) in my 56 chevy. tonight i pulled it out for final tear down and clean up. i was originally going to do the head gasket, studs, sloppy jegs cam, btr springs , and run it....
well when i pulled the cam i found this....couple of the last few lobes wiped out on the cam. any one had one like this?
is it a few bad lifters or due to a low oil pressure situation?
i had no intentions of taking the lower end apart....looks like im gonna have to now...

Could be bad springs, looks like the lifters were jumping around on the lobes.

You were going to pull the heads anyways so once you pull the lifters you will have more answers.... This would lead me to at least want to check out the rod bearings which I would see when gapping the rings anyways so now you can gap your rings , lol

Do you have a build thread yet on the car?

I would say one problem was lack of oil, then go after why was there a lack of oil.
Anymore I pull the engine down, bearings are cheap, and my luck at a good engine
has not been very good, lol.

I re-used everything. My L33 was brown inside, but in good shape.
Just google LS rod bolt torque. They are TTY bolts so there is an initial TQ spec followed by degrees of rotation. The later engines had a slightly different spec than the earlier engines. GM upgraded the bolts.
I don’t have the info at hand.

Jason - those rod bearings look fine... I am working on an L33 with similar look, but 1 had some copper showing so I got some Clevite standard replacements on amazon for 18 bucks...

CAM bearing isn't even showing copper so send it....

new lifters/trays kit from summit is 149.00 , sloppy stage 2 cam ? use the ebay sale..... Beautiful ride man, your daddy is gonna go crazy once he takes it for a spin when done lol
