jw torque converters from jegs ?

how good a quaility are these ? im going with a 5.3 btr stage 2 cam 7875 turbo an a th400 in a 88 iroc

I bought a used JW from a guy off here. It was junk and ruined my transmission.

Call PTC, Circle D or FTI.

PTC is pretty much the only recommendation I'll make anymore for a TH400 converter.

PTC 9.5...5200 ...on the tbrake. But drives like a dream, expensive yes, but a quality peice.

I run a unknown jegs stall. I was told it was a 3600 for a th400 it came with the transmission when I bought it. The trans is great but the converter is inconsistent it's all over the place as far as where it flashes depending on how warmed up it is or how cold or hot it is outside. I will be getting a new one soon but money is tight. I won't be the guy in the winner circle most of the time but it still puts my s10 3250# to 5.5x's in the 8th mile for 300$ brand new but I don't reccomend it.

To throw out completely different options, I have never had a problem with Yank converters, and I have yet to see a good Vig converter. I don't have personal experience with Circle D or PTC, but they have good reputations.

Spend the $1,000 and be done with it. Sounds like a lot of money, but buying cheap converters a couple of times is more expensive and frustrating. Could also wreck a motor in the process.
