Default Bullet race muffler for open down pipe!!

Hey guys i just built a new logstyle turbo kit on my silverado. My first kit had all 4" downpipe to the rear with a 16" bullet dumped. It sounded pretty good and wasnt loud.

My new setup is a 4" downpipe dumped right behind the pass front tire near the fender. Its a open downpipe and sounds like a race setup. It sounds ok at idle but is pretty loud, and even worse cruising around town.

So, Im thinkin of adding a short bullet to it. Im undecided on either a dynomax bullet like i had before, or a vibrant race bullet. What have u guys tried and suggest??? I think i can manage to fit a 10" bullet at most.

Yea i need something 4". I may try a 12" bullet if i can fit it. The thread posted above... everyone tried the smaller bullets and they didnt seem to help much.

Wonder how 2 small bullets would do.

Only place tht has the short 4" is vibrant and they are pricey.

yeah any downpipe that short is gonna be loud. a bullet will only take the ear shattering rasp off. think about adding a 4" cut out and 8-10' exhaust with a real muffler.

Hmmm well i geuss i could reuse the original exhaust to the rear and use a cutout for the fender exit. Best of both worlds!

I was always wanting to make the entire down pipe out of these bullet style mufflers without ends on them...

This ones 18" long but there are smaller ones.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Diamond-Eye-400400-Quiet-Tone-Resonator-without-Ends-4-Single-In-Out/332744268699?epid=220495523&hash=item4d791a9b9b:g: aT8AAOSw4NVbYyWD

That said, best setup is always a cutout IMO. Grab a 4" cutout and run a little 2" 2.25" etc pipe off the side of your down pipe. With the dump closed it cuts about 60% of the noise down. No muffler required.

This is the entire exhaust system on my race car. It's quiet enough to talk on the phone with the dump closed.

Thts a diff way of doing it.

I drove truck today and its kinda loud but not to bad, its growing on me lol. I Just hate the raspy tractor tone. Really Leaning towards a small 4" bullet. At least give it a shot and see how it sounds.

I have a customer wanting twin 60s fabbed up next week. Might be going through the same delima with his setup.

it'll sound worse! uncorked twins at idle and cruise is THE WORST imo

Any reason why you just don't put the original 4" system out the back with a big muffler?

A short single 4” straight thru bullet will do little to nothing for sound. It’s a butt hair quieter than a straight pipe. Been there, done that. The cutout 100% works, is light weight, semi cheap, and the best option by far I’ve found.

I’ve also got a set of 64mm twins on a 5.3 mustang. They are much louder than my single turbo 4” open DP on the RX-7.

I use 2 3” cutouts on that setup ($60 china vacuum activated cutouts). Then tie the 2 3” down pipes together with a little 2” “H pipe” and run a single 2” pipe all the way back to stock 4cyl mustang exhaust. Sleeper city... it’s OEM quiet. I wrap it all and it ties into a $120 walker OEM exhaust axle back kit.

Good luck!
