Has anybody ran a gear tht gets u close to a starting line ratio of 9? My last combo was a 1.76 powerglide with 4.88 gear. Naturally aspirated of course. Haven't tried it with turbo.

Why 9? Are you turbo now? Turbos make torque…..gear it for finish line rpm and buy a good converter. Having low and high too far apart make the gear change rpm drop too drastic.

The ideal starting line ratio has always been 9, 10, and 11 range. Turbos have kinda changed tht. I have a 78mm turbo now on a 5.3. I have ran it yet.

And turbos have always had lag! What trans and gear do you have? Give us more on the combo.

I did have 1.76 powerglide and 4.88 gear with a 388ci. Sold all tht stuff. Now i have a stock 5.3 with trickflow .216/.220 cam and pac 1218 springs. Mild combo. Am thinking another 1.76 powerglide.
