Default Need to know where to get a wastegate spring

I have a wynton speed cheapie wastegate with a 4lb spring in it. I get 3psi on just the spring and 6psi on the controller, max. I want to put a 6psi spring in it but I can’t find the spring seperate. Any ideas? Anyone have a spring for this wastegate? It’s a 44mm btw.

This one

Btw, I emailed the seller I bought it from and received no reply. So I did email them again today. I could buy a whole wastegate like it with a 6psi spring in it, but if this seller won’t even reply to me why should I give him more money?

I was in the same boat but opposite. I wanted a lighter spring. Emailed, no reply. So I just went to my local hardware store and bought a bunch of springs about the right diameter and measured them on a small scale. Surprisingly they work great and are very close to what they scaled out at. They’re only about an inch in diameter, by fit the register of the gate fine with a little persuasion. Air test your gate too before and after to get a cracking pressure. It’s not a guarantee, but at least a you’ll have a reference point.

if I don’t get a reply, I’m gonna leave them some negative feedback. May be a little harsh, but you gotta communicate with your customers.

Add washers under the spring to stiffin it. Tht will raise boost a few psi. Or add a smaller inner spring to the one u already have.

While we are at it I have a question. So I have a cheapie eBay boost controller (I know I know) and it has a “t” that you put in the wastegate line and then the other outlet goes to the remote mounted boost ****. The one I have has two fittings on the boost ****. When you turn the **** it bleeds off pressure out of the top fitting. It’s supposed to be just left open. But. What if I run it to the top of my wastegate where that pressure will now apply to the diaphragm? Bad idea?

You could try putting the line from the turbo to the top, tee it to the controller,
then to the bottom-but you gotta be careful, open the controller all the way,
and watch the boost gauge.
You could post the dims of your spring, length, inside/outside dims., wire dia.

well when you put it that way, scares me from doing it. I think I’ll refrain from it for now. My way of thinking is it runs really strong on 6psi (car was already around 400rwhp before the turbo) so I don’t want to get greedy. What I wanted was having the capability of 8psi max but keep it around 4 most of the time. On 6psi if I were to floor it to pass someone at 45-50mph, it would be dangerous because it will spin the tires. So keeping it low but having the option of higher boost is what I want. I drive this car a lot. I’m in it today at work. I do t want to rush doing something I shouldn’t have and lost a perfectly good motor because of it.

Yea be careful using the top wastegate port. It will make full boost, very quickly!! Your boost controller will work, u just gotta fine tune it and pay attention to boost.

U can also remove all lines from your wastegate and it will double your boost psi. If u have a 5psi spring with line on bottom, remove line and it will make 10psi. This is also why your boost controller can only get 6psi out of a 3psi spring.

I would get up to 5psi on spring and just use controller to work up to 10psi if needed. Use washers to shim it up to your boost liking.

To me 3psi of boost isnt worth bothering with. 5psi minimum in any of my setups. This is just to be able to control launch boost at the track.

Remember U can only go as low as your spring rating.

By the way are u stil using the ls2 10.9:1 comp setup with boost? Using meth?

Its an ls1. I have a non boost cam which bleeds off cylinder pressure. I ported the 243's and detailed the combustion chambers, unshrouded the valves and smoothed it all out. i set my quench at .039 which helps alot too. I didnt get any detonation at 28-29 degrees naturally aspirated. Running no meth, about 14-16 degrees timing, I dont see any knock at 6psi. My iat's are quiet low since adding the intercooler. I have an iat gauge so i pay attention to it, if for some reason they are elevated, i don't get on it. Honestly I find myself smashing it to the floor much less since adding boost.....It can get dangerous and exceeds 100mph (double the normal speed limit in most places) in a very quick hurry.....so i refrain from all of that unless I'm on a back road highway away from cars and people. I've already had my license taken in that car once already.....not trying to do that again.

I'm going to just shim the spring so i can get a few more potential psi. I never want it over 10 max.

The car obviously makes decent power. Spend some money on tires, suspension and power management before you hurt yourself or someone else. You should be able to keep the car hooked at higher speeds. Also makes the car more enjoyable.

o, I have tires for it. And it’s got a little suspension. I have two sets of wheels, one for daily driving and if I get caught in the rain and the other for drag duties. I roll around on regular radials for normal going back and forth to work or cruising. I don’t really smash it much with those tires. Lol
