what if you slipped the IC over and had the in/out on the bottom and not the top? then you might could install the stock safety latch and still get your piping through the bottom holes in the core support.

First drive, been way over do, even spun a tire (in the grass). Except for the elect. fuel gauge in the dash,
everything works as it should. Well, the drive wasn't to far, just from the garage over to the house, lol.
Truck needed a bath.
Forgot I didn't have front shocks, so even a slow drive was kind of bouncy, but next week it goes around
the block. Had a tough time getting the idle to stabilize, but worked on it and pretty decent now.

Still working on the never ending little stuff, have most of the interior parts coming.
Ventured out on the road, short run around the block, prob a couple miles. Everything
seemed to be OK, rides like a truck, lol. Hopefully that will improve once the bed is back
on, maybe a couple weeks. Not wild about the elect dash I installed, of course I
learn not the only one, prob should have done my homework there, lol.
Took the bed off the rolling cart and now on saw horses, makes life easier. Using the
engine crane it was off balance, nothing a cinder block, bat. and rear couldn't fix, lol.

Awesome build! Question about the passenger side exhaust manifold, it looks like you built it and tied the drivers side right into the passenger side. do you have any more pictures of how you did this? Also, do you have any pictures of it tying into your turbo. Thanks.

I think there are some pics on here that show it, its a log manifold that the turbo sits on,
you use a stock or whatever manifold on the D/S, run a cross over pipe under the back to
the back side of the log manifold. Several people offer the manifold, I think KB Racing
offers the cross over pipe using his manifold, and a stock one on the D/S if you didnt want
to fab one up.

Thanks Forcd ind, that is what I was looking for, just some pictures of how it was fabbed up. The price isn't terrible on KB's website for the log manifold, looks made very well.

Finally got the bed painted and the larger wheel tubs in, I don't get but around 1 1/2" extra due to
the leaf springs, but it I change them I can get the full 4" extra-for now the little extra will do. One
day I will paint the inside of the bed, not a pri right now, lol.
Best of all I got the engine running great with some better injector data-Hopefully Sunday I can
cut and buff the bed, then mate it with the body, so getting close.

Finished buffing the paint on the bed, so I fired the truck up and backed it up to the bed, lifted
the bed and rolled the truck right under, dropped the bed and done. Still think I will drop
the rear down a little, but not going for the slammed look. Still have to tackle the interior, the
repro stuff sucks, esp the dash cover-what I paid for that should have been a lot better.

Front end Tuesday-almost a comp. truck again, soon as I paint the tailgate. Most of the interior is in,
might take it for its first extended drive Friday. Still debating on putting the 80E back in, didn't really find
why it was locking up, but did change some things. I may throw it on my buddys trans dyno first.
Prob wont make Drag Week, but not the first time, lol.

Took the truck on a little extended run Sunday, about 20 miles to a morn. cars and coffee deal,
ran pretty good. Today I wanted to pull the old switch/pitch 400 and throw the 80E in and see if
I fixed it, but I hate to fire it up just to move over 1 bay, so-well, I had the laptop laying in the truck,
so what the hell, decided to run around the block and hammer it for the first time, lol. Data log
showed 7.5 lbs boost, 82% throttle, 4600 RPMs, everything else looked good, the oil pressure
doesn't go much over 50 lbs, hind sight wish I had gone with GM pump again, but it should be
fine. Overall its doing what it should, now need to lower the *** end some more, switch the
rear. Also picked up another 80E trans, now have 4 cores, lol.

It just has a non posi rear in it now, at some time someone changed the rear, like a late 80's, early 90's
rear, welded on the old brackets. It has 3.42's. Until I get the 9" in, kind of taking it easy (lol).
I cant lower the rear much w/o tire rub, and I want a bigger tire/wheel combo, and not sure if I am
going to do the rear flip, so everything now is kind of dependent on the new rear. I am going to
narrow it, just no brackets. Even thought about building a coil over setup, that would eliminate the
leafs, which intrude into the wider tubs space now, lol. Of course money has a little to do with it, lol.

oh yea I hear ya. I did a 4 link on the blue truck and it was really difficult to keep it all under the bed.

the white truck I did was much better IMO, just an inexpensive bolt on c-notch kit, axle on top of the spring, relocated shocks to inside the frame rail. never got to put trac-bars on it but I think leafs and trac bars are pretty dang good. rides nice and hooks decent.

Looking for cheap things to do now, lol, I did one side at a time and rem. 2 leafs from each side, left it
with just two. That brought it down to just about right, but a little more bouncy, prob has the orig shocks,
so i'll pick up a cheap set, truck sets better now. I may build my own rear suspension this winter, some of
the kits are pricy. Next up is finish the exhaust to the rear, quite it down more.

Added an oil sep, check valve and relocated the hoses to the PCV system. Took it around the block
to warm it up and check the idle AFR's with the changes to the PCV system. Also wanted to see how
it rode with just the 2 springs per side. Rides much better, pretty pleased with how it runs and drives,
once I get the new exhaust and the 80E back in should be a joy to drive.
Yep, I have a stash of 80E's, 4 of them, lol.

very tidy!

that white truck I had 8.8 swapped had 56" leafs so 2 per side + the overload was the magic number.

you get my PM about DIY caltracs? I get all my heims and stuff from barnes4wd.com
