Boost And Timing

plugs arent bad, i just had them out. distribution isnt great, #6 is the leanest. plugs are in order in the picture and have many thousand miles on them. they are tr8s
im constantly moving the tune around and ive never been to the track or dyno. its an awd pickup so the dyno isnt really feasible plus im too cheap for that kind of expense.
I drive the truck a ton and the plugs are a real pain to get out, but i need to get off my *** and read them if im so insistent on continuing to raise the boost.
its about 9:1 and cam is the cheapy elgin 220/224 112 lsa 108 icl. i ported the 5.3 heads and it has a tbss intake on it.

22 psi on 93 and you would run a tr6?
ive read a decent amount and maybe i missed something but i rarely see anyone mention going more than 18psi on straight 93 and they are in the 10degree timing range.
I was running 32 on 93 in my evo but thats quite a different animal and hard to compare to timing wise.
i agree i need to do the proper plug reading stuff but i simply havent found the time yet. im basically ready for the track hardware-wise so i think you guys have given me the motivation to order up some plugs and spend some time with the shitbox.

i error on the cold side. very little downside in my experience. i put hours and hours of 15-16:1 cruise on tr8s no problem.

depends on compression. id probably run at least a tr6 in anything that wasnt a stocker, but like i said, i error on the cold side.
ive used everything from tr6s to 5671-10s in a variety of pump gas motors and havent ever really had fouling issues. the only real problem ive seen with plugs is my stupid evo has to use iridiums with little baby dick electrodes and ever since i swapped d585s on it the electrodes erode away and the gap opens up a bunch

yes i know that.
those plugs have a ton of miles on them, and the picture was taken a few weeks ago for a different reason.
i only posted them because someone asked.
